The access is free once inside the cathedral. The climb is up 37 short ramps so an easier climb than steps. Then views across the city on all four sides via open but secure platforms.
Beautiful views of the cathedral and city. Requires climbing up to height of 300 plus feet but not actual stairs, slopping incline that seems easier than originally thought. Was included in my cathedral ticket and well worth the extra effort. Multiple view posits on the way up and recommend stopping for prime picture taking opportunities
I loved seeing La Giralda, the culture and the architecture is fabulous and is an absolute must see for everyone when traveling to Seville!
A wonderful buiding Worth admiring,it is like the emblem of Sevilla, really unforgettable,in the evening the stone as a lovely, warm colour
Beautiful tower that was once part of the mineret. Didn't climb it but had already done the Gold Tower. This whole area is steeped in history. Crowds were average in early March.
Attached to the cathedral, you can reach the top mainly by 34 sloping ramps, apparently previously allowing easy access by horse and today wheelchairs and buggies! The final accent is by a number of steps, but they are well worth the short climb. The views across Seville and surrounding countryside (apparently 40 miles) are amazing.
Amazing Moorish architecture, the old mosque minaret is absolutely fantastic and inspiring. Makes you understand why it became part of the Cathedral. Worth the climb of 35 floors for a beautiful panoramic view of Seville.
The giralda was built as a tower for the Islamic priest to ride up a horse every morning for prayers, hence it has around 34 upward sloping planes in a square format to the top of the bell tower which was added later by catholic conquerors. Hence it is possible to ride a stroller up with a kid or even for disabled people to ride up in electric wheelchairs (though the last bit has some stairs). From up above on a clear day you get views of the entire city of Seville and beyond. Back in the day, the giralda was the tallest structure in for miles and could be seen from as far as 40 kms apparently.
After climbing so many towers to see a great view over the years, it was refreshing to find one without stairs! You could see some lovely views from the little windows as you go up and some spectacular ones from the top. Worth visiting as part of the cathedral tour.
We were told by our guide that the tower has ramps instead of stairs because when it was a mosque they would ride a horse up and down 5 times a day for the call to prayer. The ramps made the trip to the top much easier than stairs. Also, there are several places to stop (out of the way of others) on the way up and down. The view from the top is spectacular!
