A two hour visit - you must book and choose between English and Spanish. A behind-the-scenes look at a world class winery. informative, entertaining and worth every penny. The time flew and before we knew it we were given a coached tasting of two of this excellent wineries' wonderful wines. Combine a tour with a meal at the fabulous restaurant for a really special visit.
Although far from being a wine buff, I do enjoy visiting wineries when I'm abroad and have been fortunate to enjoy tours of wineries in Australia, Medoc, California, Mendoza and Puglia so I at least have a point of reference to work from and this facility is right up there with the best of them.
I very much enjoyed this well organized tour. The tour provided a good summary of Rioja wine and the wine making process. The tour guide was knowledgeable and was able to respond to all questioned asked. As with almost all bodegas in this area; you must book the tour in advance.
The winery... the restaurants... the hotel. This is truly a special experience that embodies the heritage and the vision of this spectacular, magical corner of La Rioja. Words cannot begin to describe how cool, and first class the wine and hotel are. First Class all the way.
We really enjoyed the winery tour here, probably the best I've ever been on, and I've been on a lot. The guide was excellent, the facilities both historic and new, and a 7-minute video explaining their winemaking process was excellent. A real plus was touring the adjacent vineyards which included a view of the Frank Gehry-designed Marques de Riscal hotel. Wow!
Book for a winery tour! For those who are familiar with the process, wine tours are often boring. This one is special as it not only illustrates the history of this very large, excellent producer, but also gives insight into the immaculate care taken to produce the Reserva wines. A special treat is walking up into the grape-laden, ready to harvest, vineyards and enjoying the spectacular view of the Frank Gery designed Hotel. A tasting of a white and a red wine was interesting, but it would have been better to have an option of a broader tasting. Very professionally presented!
Average and medium service. We went their for a visit, but had to wait 10 minutes before getting helped. There was just a new group checking in and we could not join this group anymore as they were already 'checked in'. The woman in charge did not speak english (or pretended not too).Too bad, as we read good reviews.
The winery tour was informative and part of our hotel stay. Wine tasting was a great way to end the tour .
We bought tickets for the tour primarily to see architect Frank Gehry's gorgeously designed hotel for Marques de Riscal winery but the well-organized and well-presented tour on their winemaking was equally outstanding. The audio-visuals are first rate and the guide was charming and enthusiastic. If you are in the Rioja region this is the winery to visit!
I was already aquainted with their flagship wine, but knew little of their winery, absolutely amazing!!!The hotel built by Gehry out there in the middle of nowhere is just subliminal!!!!The tour was very good and the wine, well what can I say, it was already one of my favourites before the tour!!!
Excellent value tour that gives you a good impression of the winemaking process. The guide's English was very good and they are generous with the wine tasting at the end. The restaurant 1860 was a tad too formal for my liking, but the 50 euro set menu did include a bottle of wine and an excellent creme' brulee. Was a bit too windy to sit on the terrace unfortunately. They should expand their offerings with small tastings of the better wines (with slop buckets for drivers!).
The building is a beautiful metal design...same architect as the Guggenheim in Bilbao. Tour was first rate. Guide was well informed with excellent English
I wasn´t sure about taking the tour thinking it'd be too "commercial". I was wrong! It was a great tour, our guided Marta showed to be passionate about the place and made sure that everybody had a great time there. The new building is really impressive. As big winery they are really professional, but they're full of history too. The visit to the "old wines" cellar as really insteresting. The tasting is like the others wineries: two kinds of wine and some snacks.
Small groups, excellent guide, very good audio visual presentations and explanations of this unique site.
The whole experience was lovely. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable - happy to answer our questions and to discuss the answers. a perfect way to spend an hour or so.
