Lovely set of buildings, unfortunately the mandatory guided tour only in Spanish with no English handouts or explanations. There are different permutations of the ticket, for example with chapel or not and with Palacio Laredo or not. We took the complete ticket but didn't ask and weren't told about the location or hours to visit Palacio Laredo, a fantastic 19th century building outside the historic center. When we presented ourselves at the Palacio no one answered the door and the sign regarding visiting conditions was confusing as it applied more to visiting the Colegio than the Palacio.

The building has accommodation for visiting teaching staff of the University of Alcala. It is surreal to be sleeping there with such an amazing background. The cloisters are fantastic!

If Alcalá de Henares is a holiest of sites in a pilgrimage of Spanish literature, this ancient college (1499) is its Sancta Santorum. In a relatively small space, it is possible to see the amazing preferences of Neo-Gothic, Renaissance and Mudejar-inspired architects. A visit to the “Paraninfo” and chapel is a must (available only through a guided tour). It's amazing to think that this place was temporarily lost to the world of academia to become an industrial and storage building. I had the good fortune of visiting this amazing place while the city was celebrating the annual Medieval Week and the birth of Cervantes; his birthplace is just a few minute walk down on Calle Mayor. I recommend an early morning walk, before this old part of town wakes up to its daily hustle and bustle.

The College of San Ildefonso is located at the Plaza de San Diego. This is the current name of the university. There are many buildings, but the main building has the beautiful Plateresque facade that dates from 1543, the work of Rodrigo Gil de Hontañon. The façade has three sections and on top there is a balustrade. The courtyard (Patio Mayor) shows three floors is impressive and dates from the Renaissance. The Patio Trilingue is where the dead languages were taught. The Paraninfo has an impressive caisson ceiling. The assembly room is one of the finest examples of the Cisneros style, combining Mudéjar features in plaster and wood with Plateresque decoration. There is a beautiful chapel next door.

Según cuentan los historiadores, los edificios de la ciudad universitaria de Alcalá de Henares iban a ser subastados y gracias al apoyo y la inversión de los vecinos, se recuperó como patrimonio de la humanidad. El colegio de San Idelfonso es uno de los inmuebles mas belos del Complejo universitario, com sus 3 pátios, balcones, aljibes y la carga histórica de las grandes figuras españolas que pasaron por sus aulas. Imprescindible la visita.

Sin duda una de las fachadas mas conocida y bellas de Alcalá de Henares, es una muestra de arquitectura renacentista , a ser posible realizar la visita guiada, destacar el paraninfo (sala donde se entrega el premio Cervantes), el patio mayor es extraordinario ,consta de tres pisos y es donde se encuentra la frase que le dijo el cardenal Cisneros a Fernando el católico cuando éste se burlaba del patio ""et luteam marmorea nunc""(antes de barro ahora de marmol). Las restauracione que se están realizando son extraordinarias .No perdérselo

時間の関係で中に入る事ができなかったのですが、ここで卒業した友人によると、大講堂が素晴らしいそうです。有料で入ることができます。

La historia que encierra el Colegio de las cadenas hacia dentro. La sala de grado resulta espectacular; es fácil retrotraerse a aquellos tiempos de Cisneros y evocar el examen final de los alumnos de la Universidad.

Un bello edificio que recuerda el notable nivel alcanzado por la cultura española en los Siglos de Oro. Un lugar entrañable.

El Colegio Mayor de San Ildefonso, actual sede del Rectorado de la Universidad de Alcalá es, junto con la Plaza Cervantes, uno de los grandes iconos de Alcalá, y una joya arquitectónica renacentista del Casco Histórico de la ciudad. Imposible visitar Alcalá y perdérselo, muy recomendable incluir visita guiada por el claustro, el paraninfo y todo el interior de esta obra única.

Cuando fui en Junio estaba en obras, por lo que no pudimos verlo. Tiene una fachada que te deja con ganas de entrar dentro y saber más. Si puedes visitarlo, hazlo con visita guiada

Cogimos la visita guiada precisamente porque incluía esta zona y resulta que, al estar de obras, no se puede pasar. Deberían ofrecer otro lugar a cambio o bajar el coste de la visita porque, aunque te lo cuentan por fuera, te sabe a poco y quién sabe si algún día volveremos o ya no...

Nous avons été gâtés par l'accueil et la visite guidée par deux jeunes gens de l'Université pour nous tout seuls. Une prestigieuse cour intérieure derrière une grande façade classique et d'autres beaux patios qui se succèdent .L'aula où se passent les défenses de diplôme devant les experts et le public de la ville. Un lieu culturel important où est aussi attribué le grand Prix littéraire Cervantès en présence du Roi . La chapelle est plus sobre. Nous deux guides tellement sympathiques et fiers de leur université ont même refusé tout pourboire !

Su arquitectura y su historia le hacen ser el monumento más recomendable de la visita a Alcalá. Aconsejable ir con guía, ya que, merece la pena escuchar su historia. Nosotros fuimos con el Tren de Cervantes, que por 20€ nos mostraron la ciudad, sus principales monumentos y nos entretuvieron con visitas teatrelizadas durante el viaje de ida y vuelta, y en algún punto de la visita.

Famoso lugar, por acoger anualmente los Premios Cervantes y por su estilo plateresco, aunque apenas pudimos disfrutar de su interior, merece la pena visitarlo. Disponen de una bonita maqueta de la ciudad de Alcalá de Henares
