On our visit the Azure Window I hadn't realise at first that the Inland sea was accessible from the same main road in. As we walked back from the Azure Window to the front of the church the access road was to the left, gently sloping down into a mixture of small dwellings and lock ups almost like descending into an old quarry you get a glimpse of the Inland Sea with its cliffs rising up before you. It was low season in February, late in the day with the sea particularly rough so everything was deserted. There are quays from lock ups on the shoreline sloping into the sea to launch the boats that are kept here. On the day there was no chance of taking a boat trip through the caves or a gentle swim as the sea was angrily bursting through and rolling up the Inland Sea's beach. It was peaceful as no one else was around but also raw with the roar of the sea coming through the cave, good space the sit and relax for a while. No doubt it's a very different experience in high season with boat trips running but it's an equally good visit when things are quiet.

One of the must sea things on Gozo a bay linked to the sea by a tunnel great bay for a swim to as safe and you can also take a small boat through the tunnel for around €3.50

Go for a peaceful swim in this enclosed tiny sea!Or get a boat from here and sail through the tunnel that connects it to the Mediterranean and see the Azure Window up close!Enjoy the cliffs all around you and the peacefulness of it all!

This inland sea was hidden away, and yet just a few steps from the Azure Window bus stop. It was from here we took a small boat out through a narrow 'tunnel' to see the Azure Window from water level. It was amazing, a choppy, exhilarating boat ride, thrilling, well worth the €4 fee. Loved the coloured doors on the small building next to the inland sea. If you visit the Azure Window, it's worth making the effort to walk down to the Inland Sea.

The inland sea is a lagoon of seawater and is connected to the Mediterranean by an arched cave that passes through the cliff. The lagoon is fairly shallow and the bottom is mostly pebbles and small rocks. However, as you exit the lagoon through the tunnel towards open sea, the depth increases to 35 metres. As a dive, it is sensational. When leaving the lagoon, swim on your back and watch the blue arch slowly fade away. It is said that Jacques Cousteau put this dive among his top ten dives. For me, it has to be in my top five. It's worth visiting Gozo, just for this one dive (although there's another nice one nearby at Blue Hole)

Unable to take the boat trip as this was low season and none were available, however interesting all the same.Situated a stone's throw from the Azure Window but it can be easily missed if not careful as not visible from the carpark

As I've said in the title ... If we could have passed from open sea to Inland Sea it would be much better and experience would have been more memorable. Unfortunately it was impossible because of weather conditions.

The Inland Sea is located close to the Azure Window and is a very nice sea cave that is reachable through the many boat trips offered during the season.

What a amazing location. We took the boat trip to the azure window. And wow what a view from the sea. The boat guide I believe a local fisherman was fantastic and the ride was so cheep.I must do if your in the area.

We came here to get a glimpse of the Azure Window up close, as well as the grottoes around the area. Our guide called it the Gozo Blue Grotto (not to be confused with the one in Zurrieq on Malta) and it did not dissapoint. It was fantastic. My oldest boy loved being on the boat and going through the little cave out into the sea, exploring the little caves. Even though the day was a little hazy, the water was an unreal shade of cobalt blue, and the coral and algae made beautiful purple-green stripes on the rocks. We also got a great up close view of the Azure Window, and could see Fungus Rock. Definitely a must-see if you take a trip to Gozo - the boat ride is quick and not too expensive.

15 minutes in a boat going in and out of caves and admiring the deep blue sea. Well worth the 5 euro charge and gives a nice alternative view of Gozo. Suspect the crowds in the Summer could be a problem as there were quite a few people around for late November

For 4 euros the locals take you our for a fantastic boat ride around the azure window and excellent value for money and one of the active holiday highlights.

Wow another mind blowing location in Gozo, the boat trips from the inland sea, through the cave, to the ocean is so well worth it and to see the Azure Window from the ocean a must. a quaint and favorite spot of ours in Gozo.
