Was there for two nights attending a conference. I was 'underwhelmed' with the quality of the 'queen' room. Lighting in the room was VERY dim and getting hot water out of the sink or shower was a five minute wait. The closet is 'small by small' - I can't imagine being there for a few days with my spouse and luggage for two. Bullfrogs was decent, except a burger ordered medium came out 'very well done'. The food at Windows was very good - but pricy. The bar was closed for 'remodeling' and there was very limited beer selections. If our conference is there again next year, I'll stay elsewhere and commute. I would never consider spending my 'own money to vacation there.
This was not our first visit to Lake Lanier lake houses. We liked it so much on our previous trips that we were looking forward to this 5 day trip for New Years. It was AWFUL. Lake house #4 was a nightmare. No tv in 2nd bedroom, a broken window that couldn't close due to the broken frame, a broken picture frame on the wall with glass falling out of it. Washer knows came off in ur hand, the freezer didn't work and finally the heat went out TWICE. We only called about the freezer and the heat and they sent someone right over the first 2 calls and fixed the freezer and then the heat. The 3rd call was at night a few hours after the 2nd call regarding the heat. The "night maitenance" man couldn't repair the heat but took 2 hrs to tell us this. By this time my mother and 2 of 4 kids were in bed. Then the front desk said we couldn't use portable heaters because it was a fire hazard but they could move our lake house. An hour later the bell man brought a key to the other lake house and by this time the other 2 kids were asleep and it was approx 130am. It was also 30 degrees. The night mgr said we could worry about moving everything the following day bc there were so many probs with the cabin it would be placed "out of order" & no rented to anyone else bc of the probs. We had 2 days left to our stay.Krysten from the front desk called early the next morning to ask when we would be out of the other room bc they were "sold out" and needed all the "room inventory" that day. I tried to explain how rude it was to call so early after I had been up late and also what the night manager told me. She said she understood and still insisted she needed to know when we were moving our stuff. I asked for a manager to call and she said the mgr would call me right back.I waited in the cold cabin for the mgr to call. I called 45 mins later and asked what was going on. The front desk clerk Rhonda, the one who sounds annoyed to be answering the phone, yes her transferred me to the front desk mgr, Mandy who told me I needed the GM who was in a meeting. I asked her why someone didn't tell me the call from the mgr would be later and tried to tell her I was sitting in the cold cabin waiting for 45 mins. She said, "what I won't tolerate is you accusing me of" I hung up and I drove up to the lobby to find the elusive GM that supposedly knew he had a guest in the cold but was chatting it up in a meeting with employees since he had been there that morning.I went to the lobby and waited for the manager, Chadwick who introduced himself and immediately said since I was rude to his staff & was not happy he didn't think they could make me happy. I said, " how was I rude ur staff has been horrible aside from ur night mgr" he said, "u dropped several f-- bombs" I said, "no I didnt the worst thing I said was 'pist off' when speaking of them calling me so early. Chadwick never heard any of the problems I had the 3 days I had been there from me and I don't k own If he was ever told but I was never given a chance to tell him nor did he care to fix them. After returning to the cabin 2 housekeepers and a maitenance man informed me the resort was "over sold"( it was new years eve) & bc I would have taken another cabin and the original cabins heat COULD NOT be fixed that day they were twice over sold so by me leaving they could accommodate more incoming guests. To this day I do not know what the reason was for Chadwick being so flippant and not caring to hear me out but relying on his staff's lies. It was the weirdest thing that has ever happened to me in my life. They did refund my money after a week or so although it does not take away that we had to leave early and drive on new years eve.I hope he reads this and knows that his staff lied to cover their poor customer service and their several mis steps. In the future i hope he will actually look into the facts prior to accusing someone of "dropping f- bombs" and being rude because there is a difference between being rude and asking for what you paid for. I would have rather him just be upfront and say they were over sold I would of have tried to work something out.
Went for the Christmas festivities. Was a fun evening and good value for the cost. Make sure you get a coupon at publix or chic fil-a for discount. Snow world is an extra fee; we didn't do it.
Our family had a great relaxing time The fire pits and making s'mores was fun. All if the staff were friendly and helpful. I wish the tubing slides were on snow not plastic but it was still fun and you were not soaking wet from melting snow We did the lodge package with snow world tickets based on the price if you paid for a family of four to come just for a day you might as well stay the night and enjoy the breakfast buffet tooOver all this place is beautiful and very peaceful get away
We were extremely disappointed in the lights and the focus change this year. The feeling of a special family experience is gone. In past years the focus was on the lights and the experience families would have traveling through them. Now the focus has clearly shifted to how much money they can make at the cheap carnival event. Imagine the disappointment of a six year old that has grown up with this these lights when she does not see her favorite lights. It was so disheartening. They moved Santa from a awesome set to a cheap take a number feeling outside of a restaurant. This has always been a special time from my family. We have been visiting as a family since 2006 and if the focus does not change we won't be returning.
Save your hard-earned money and avoid this money pit racket! The lights are nice, but not worth $40 by any stretch! The included "ice" rink is an absolutely horrid piece of plastic that is impossible to truly skate on. We will not be back...ever.
SO we stayed the night at the lodge and in our package had tickets to snow world and also breakfast for 4 (these costs alone tallied $240 and our hotel was about that price...a great deal!) We toured the lights our first night which the kiddos loved. We walked around the lanier world park which had more lights, carnival rides, a cute shop, a "polar rink" (not, not ice, but a synthetic flooring that was a like a slick track for skates). The kids loved it all. It was not crowded at all and the following day, we practically had the whole snow world to ourselves. Snow world was fun! Many of the summer water slides were converted to sledding slides including the two really steep slides (yikes!). There was also a run that they built with white astroturf that you used a tube on. We all had a good time riding the rides and playing in the snow areas. We had dinner and drinks at sunset cove and had a nice time and the food was decent. I felt sorry for the park as it was so empty. I hope that it does well as we would like to make this a yearly tradition. Tips: the carnival rides are pricey so buy the $20 unlimited bands. Also, bring your own smore materials or at least extra marshmellows. There are fire pits everywhere and the smore kits had stale marshmellows in them.
I expected to wait for a while on Saturday night before Christmas, but this is ridiculous. 2.5 hours just to get thru the entrance. Made it to te area at 7:30, made it to the gate at 10:00... Would've left because I have small children, but I had already purchased my ticket. Never saw anyone directing traffic, no apologies for the wait, just took my ticket without sayings word. If it was the first year I'd understand, but there is no excuse for the amount of money we all pay for nothing in return.
Some changes this year to the light show all good. Live Nativity was great. New location of Santa Claus much better that previous years.
Drove with family to see the Lake Lanier Lights that i had read about in Fodor's and Frommer's. The lights were not what i had expected them to be. My sister in law who lives in Atlanta said last year they had a lot more and she couldn't understand why this year they were very few and not that great. I was happy that we just paid $30 coz we were mentally prepared to pay $60. For $30 i think it was OK.
Just got home from a week of being at a Lake Lanier Islands Resort Lake House and OMG was it my favorite vacation. We cruise a lot and decided this time we were staying on land and heading to a change of scenary and what a change it was, JUST GORGEOUS. Our lake house at a fire place that we loved sitting in front of. Our deck looked out over the forrest and lake and our 5 year old saw her first deer! We rode horses at their stables and sipped hot chocolate at the lodge that was decorated magnificiently for Christmas. We had the MOST DELICIOUS Thanksgiving dinner in the ball room. EVERYTHING was just amazing. Casual food at Bullfrogs is spectacular! We are already to trying to book for next year. This is our new Thanksgiving tradition! THANK YOU LAKE LANIER ISLANDS RESORT!
This place is unbelievable. Customer Service... exceptional. Beautiful, clean rooms...fresh (bleached) sheets, balcony and patio views. Fire places everywhere inside and out. Campground, zip lines, spa ,horseback riding, fishing, boating, water park/(snow park beginning in Nov), Bullfrogs Bar, biking, hiking, golf...this place is a utopia. Loved it.
We stayed in the campground with our camper. Water front site, awesome view!!! There is lots to do. We also went horseback riding around the lake, awesome views again. You just need to experience it
We stayed at Lake Lanier Island Resort in July 2014 for 3 days. Perfect amount of time. Specifically we stayed in one of the private legacy villas that comes with a golf cart for the duration of the trip. We saw the regular hotel rooms at the lodge and they were very basic hotel rooms. The legacy villas were gorgeous and very comfortable for our family of 4. Have a fridge and microwave, living room and separate bedroom. Kids loved riding in the golf cart everywhere. Windows restaurant at the main hotel has good food via buffet. Bullfrogs restaurant is like a Chili's. That's about it for dining options, but that was okay for our short stay. Would have rated it a 5 if better dining options. The water park is also fun for a half day... longer if you enjoy laying on the beach for awhile. The best part is the lake. This is a large mountain lake created by a man made dam, so no sharks or alligators to worry about. Plenty of wide open areas to cruise. We rented jet skis for an afternoon. Another day rented a nice pontoon boat from the resort and were able to use it for tubing... the kids had a blast. Can't wait to go back again for a short vacation.
Stayed in our motorcoach at shoal creek (lake lanier property). Wonderful state park type camping with 50amp power and water, no sewer hookups but they do have a dump station. Camp sites are private, remote and quiet, most are near lakeside. Wildlife is everywhere, had many deer browsing around coach every evening at dinner time. Campsites included passes to lake lanier islands resort. The resort is a family oriented water park with boat and water toy rental, horseback riding, wave pool, regular pool, lodge and several restaurants. I didn't play golf but was able to tour the course and must say it was beautiful. It winds through and around many beautiful lake lanier bays with beautiful elevated tees and greens and was in amazing shape. Employees were friendly and helpful. We will return to camp and boat and will plan on playing golf next time.
