We could only visit a small portion of the battlefield as the rangers were closing it due to the weather. We recommend purchasing the Chickamauga Field Guide as it includes the entire battlefield.

I liked the video at the vistor's center. It might be to gruesome for little ones. Nice shop to stock up on history books.

I had never visited a battlefield before as I always thought it would be boring. But we first visited the visitor center and watched the free movie describing the battle and the events that took place. Then we used the free map provided to visit the significant sites. The markers of where the troops were placed and sites where actual action took place made it all come together which made the visit very meaningful. We pretty much stuck to the main sites but there are plenty of walking/hiking trails to other sites which I think would extend the visit to 4 hours at least. Would like to come back to hike the various trails.

Took a tour of the Visitor's Center and Museum. Watched an orientation review of the battlefield and visited the gift shop. Took a vehicle tour (our own auto) of the extensive battlefield with a guide map and an audio FM station explanation we listened to in our car in which we toured the battlefield, monuments, houses and other things to view. We were able to exit our vehicle as parking stops to walk up close to see and read monument and statue markings as desired. Also witnessed a demonstration of field armaments used during the Civil War by employees dressed in the uniform of the Civil War days who fired the weapons. The place is clean, orderly, still under construction at points, and chock full of Union and Confederate Memorial Monuments and Statues (small, medium and large) spread throughout the battlefield area representing almost every military unit that fought during the major Civil War battle. We saw people riding bicycles, walking as singles and groups, walking with dogs, on horseback and in cars - very accommodating to all who want to enjoy this magnificently well preserved and maintained battlefield. We also saw people picnicking in the park area with lots of such areas to enjoy a lunch spread out on the ground or at picnic tables noticed in various areas of the park. In our opinion it it is one of the best maintained and presented battlefield comparing with Gettysburg, and Manassas and Bull Run battlefields in the northeast. We were there for about 2-1/2-3 hours, which is adequate for cursory viewing, but was not long enough to more adequately view and read all the signage and writings on monuments and statues in the battlefield park. We will be returning to the Battlefield in the future to see more of the park. If you are in the area, it is definitely well worth the visit.

We took a delightful 2.5 mile walk across the battlefield. Signage is Blue Union and Red for the Confederates. Beautiful monuments marking the way. The only disappointment was not enough time this visit and the dog walkers who did not pick up after their dogs. Bags were provided at the Visitor's Center. This is sacred ground of a very sad time in our country's history and dog walkers should be respectful. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy more time here.

Wow! Had no idea how large an area this battlefield encompassed. It was awesome seeing so many monuments and statues literally all over the battlefield. Wish we had had more time to see all of it.

The parks department has really cleaned up the grounds and the vistas are beautiful! This park is easy to explore on foot, bike or by car.

We enjoyed the video before taking the driving tour of the battlefield. You could spend hours exploring all the monuments and locations of the different units. We thought the rifle exhibit was fascinating to see.

We were more than pleasantly surprised with our visit to the Chickamauga Battlefield. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The cannon exhibitions were a real hit with our kids, and the film put together by the National park Service really explained the history of the battles well. The rifle exhibit in the visitor center was also amazing. If you're a real history buff, like we are, plan to spend a good bit of time exploring the battlefield. It's big and well preserved!

This is a place to go to if you are into Civil War history. The driving tour is clear and easy to follow. Watch out for the whitetail deer, they are quite abundant when I was there. And the visitor center closed at 4 pm.

We were passing through and were not able to give this wonderful historical site the attention that it richly deserves but we will be back! The park is beautiful and well laid out as a vehicle tour or a walking/hiking trip. The museum and video at the visitor center is a must! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. This is a place where you should bring your children to learn about some of our American History. They don't teach it like this in schools anymore!

Very well marked and maintained, spend several hours or a day. The stories of the people who fought and died here will touch your soul.

We spent an afternoon here last week and were deeply moved. The visitors' centre is well set out and highly informative. The short video presentation is highly recommended. The highlight is the tour of the battlefields themselves...so well laid out. Informative and respectful.

We stopped here on our way home from Columbus, Georgia. We had never been to Chickamauga. This is a beautiful park, well administered and laid out to visit while driving. All the history is set out for you in the visitor's center if you are not a history buff. They have a wonderful film about it that will help you appreciate the visit. There are park Rangers that will help you with your visit. it is a lovely place in the fall with all the colorful leaves.
