We just drove down to check this place out for future camping. What a nice place. We will be camping here and can't wait!!

This is by far the most amazing place for tent camping! They have 11 "walk-in" sites which have both water and electricity and an awesome view of the lake. The bathhouses are very clean and close to the campsites. The tent pads are on gravel so be sure to bring your air mattress or pad. On our most recent trip I underestimated the weather so for the balance of our trip we rented a yurt which was not as much like selling out as I thought! All of your cooking is done outside and there is a dock on the back overlooking the lake. I would totally reccomend the yurt to anyone who loves camping but has toddlers it really gives them a safe place to play where you are able to let your guard down and relax!

This was our first time glamping in a yurt and it was fantastic. What a wonderful way to itch that travel/camping bug when the weather is cold or damp. Luckily we had fabulous weather but regardless, this campground is wonderfully laid out. There are spectacular views of the lake from just about every yurt (yurt 1 is ADA accessible and not as close to the water as the other five) and the yurts are well spaced apart so it feel secluded and remains quiet. They yurts are spacious, HEATED (!), and have back decks with killer views. Watching the sunrise and sunset from the deck makes you feel like you have million dollar view! The walk to the comfort station has a decently steep grade but is paved and very well lit.

Mu husband and I needed a quiet and peaceful retreat to escape the hustle and bustle of raising three kids. I discovered the yurts at Tugaloo and knew it was the place to go. I was right. The bathrooms were clean. The water was hot and the showers kept maintained. The setting of the yurts was very nice. We cooked out, played cards, and even brought a small tv to watch redbox movies at night. The yurt was comfortable and the porch had a great view of the lake. We walked down and around the lake skipping rocks. We saw a few deer run across the street behind the bathroom area. Overall it was a great experience and we can't wait to return. I would recommend a can of bug spray if you don't like bugs, spiders etc. We had a few at night crawling around the floors.

We went to Tugaloo State Park for the 1st time during the week of thanksgiving! Our family of 5 (3 boys ages 12, 10, 5) stayed in Yurt #1 from Wednesday thru Saturday that week. The yurt had 2 plug-in heaters. We kept them on high the whole time. We never got "hot" but we weren't freezing either. We were right across from the bathhouse which was super clean and warm! They also have 2 family bathrooms. They came thru several times over the day to check them all and clean them! The gentleman we saw and spoke to was Gene (very nice, helpful man). Outside we had a fire pit, a charcoal grill, a table, a pole to hang a lantern, and a spigot. This particular yurt had a futon and then a double bunk bed with the bottom as a futon/bed. We also had a table with 4 chairs inside our yurt as well as a floor lamp and some smaller tables for bags, etc. We cooked all of our food outside on the fire and the grill. The fire pit had a grate you could flip up and down as you needed it. Since we were close to the parking lot we had very easy access to our vehicle as well as the bath house. The other 5 yurts are down the hill with a winding sidewalk...all are close to the lake. We had plenty of places to ride our bikes, especially since the park wasn't as busy that time of year. We saw several walking trails and enjoyed some time fishing. The ladies in the office were very helpful and even called us that Wednesday morning to tell us our yurt was ready and that we could check in as early as we wanted. We really enjoyed our trip and hope to go back again!

Stayed in a lakeside site during Halloween weekend. Was surprised to find nearly every site was decorated, and was even more surprised at the number of trick or treaters (@150). some of the sites are a little close, but there are PLENTY that provide privacy. The bathrooms are very nice. And when I pulled into the campground with my 37' bus, the camp host begged me to jump into his golf cart so we could zip around, see all of the available sites as quickly as possible, pick one, and set up. THAT'S service. I don't own a boat, but I can definitely see where this park would be excellent for my fellow campers who do. Folks, I have been all over this country and attempt to camp in state parks whenever possible because I believe in their mission and the selfish fact that they are usually cheaper than other alternatives. Georgia has a wonderful state park system, and Tugaloo is a great family park.

The park has beautiful views. You can find a quiet place to relax but there are activities for children also. Plenty of camping as well as day trip visits. Be sure to get an annual pass, it's good at other GA parks.

If you love the escape from the concrete jungle... then read on ! If you prefer to be entertained then you are probably done here!This park is situated on a peninsula within Lake Hartwell at Lavonia GA which is also located near the SC border and it is home to the most beautiful hardwoods, birds, even deer and offers a lake view from every angle!They offer camper & tent camping as well as large and very clean, affordable home away from home style cabins complete with full kitchen, bath and bedrooms with amenities like TV, fireplace, ceiling fans, central heat and air and comfortable furnishings indoor and out! There is a lakeside beach with affordable putt putt golf, boat & kayak rentals and a playground with swings for the little ones. The only add on that we wished for was a pontoon boat rental, and though they are available just outside the park with nearby marinas, they were cost prohibitive. On a return visit, we would budget for that extra during our stay. The Tallulah Gorge Park is only a short drive from Tugaloo and the perfect place to pause and soak up some genuine rest and relaxation and maybe even some exercise in a beautiful setting, morning, noon or evening ! Well marked trails for short hikes under the canopy!One final treat, Stone Mountain Park in Atlanta is only about an hour and half west of Tugaloo State Park..... I will review that park separately! Look for it!

My husband and our 2 teens stopped by for a picnic and to relax. Great picnic spot in the shade lakefront. They toured cabin 16 for a future trip. The kids walked around the lake and my hubby took it easy and watched canoes and boats go by. There are plenty of trails to walk for our next visit.

We camped with our travel trailer here over July 4th weekend. We did reserve a "premium" campsite, which are right on Lake Hartwell. We had plenty of space and had such a relaxing time. The previous reviews talk about the terrible roads--these roads are not "terrible". They are older roads, but I have definitely experienced worse. We had no issues getting our travel trailer in and out of there. The camp hosts were very nice and friendly, but not over bearing. The beach area was nice. The entire park is very nice and well-kept. The bath house near us was kept very clean!

We enjoyed the lake and getting away from it all while visiting here. The area around this park is also nice with great bbq right down the road.

This state park is very clean and well maintained. The bath area for tent and yurt campers was immaculate.The staff were very friendly and helpful.There are a total of six yurts, each very private. Trees surround each of the yurts, and are pretty far from each other. Six people can fit in one -- two futons and a bed is provided. Each yurt as its own grill and fire pit.As of this review, yurts only cost $75 per night. That's an excellent price, considering the location and number of people it can fit.We are coming back again. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

This is a GA state park on Lake Hartwell. I have camped, hiked and fished from this park. Great lake front campsites with clean bathrooms, Modern boat launch ramp with plenty of room and parking. Also quite a few miles of hiking trails that take you through the park. We often hike on weekends to get some exercise. Highly recommended if you are near Lake Hartwell.

This review pertains to the cabins available at Tugaloo State Park, only. There are, I believe, about 20 cabins available. An on-line reservation system is accessed via the GA State Parks website that lets you know exactly what is available, when - very convenient and hassle free.Approximately 30 fraternity brothers/wives/friends re-uned here for the weekend, 40 years after college and we ended up occupying all 10 cabins in one of the two cabin sections. Two of the cabins were used for group meals and gatherings, so we got to experience three that weekend. All were basic, two bedroom, one bath, kitchen, living room. Parking pad right next to the entrance door makes unloading a breeze. A covered patio is offered on most, as well as fire ring, and I believe most have dock access at each cabin. Cabins were neat and clean and included refrigerators, stove and dishwasher. We did only minimal housekeeping, but they are stocked with basic kitchen and cooking/eating supplies. Nightly rate is about that of a modest hotel/motel or extended stay facility, and I considered it a good value. We checked in after park office hours - no problem at all, and check out was dropping off the keys. Great, friendly park staff.There is a convenience store located right at the entrance to the park (they must make a killing!) and Lavonia shopping and the interstate are just a few miles away.Between the three cabins I experienced, furniture was a bit of mix and match, some more comfortable than others. It was absolutely fine for the weekend, though I'm not sure my wife could have relaxed on the sofa in our cabin for an entire week.Summary - great, quiet place for a small family (2 bedrooms!), a pair of couples, perhaps, or just a couples getaway. If you have a boat, then I would recommend this just for the dock and lake access for each cabin. This weekend trip was in November, so "off season", we missed the crowds, I'm sure (except our own). There seem to be plenty of other activities available (tennis, trails, swimming, boating) but I did not take advantage of these this time. Perhaps next time!

This Georgia state park has small sites packed in like sardines on a peninsula on Lake Hartwell. The sites have little or no privacy between them. The bath facilities appear to have been updated within the last few years, they were fine. The employees and volunteers were nice folks.Granted, everyone has different expectations and wants in a state park visit. If you have a boat and want to explore the lake, there are several site where you can tie your boat up alongside your camper or tent (better get there early though, the waterfront sites go fast).Me, I prefer a bit of peace and quiet and privacy when I'm camping... this park simply doesn't offer that. And I don't own a boat. My kids and I had fun on our fall weekend visit, but we'll go elsewhere next time.
