Unique setting and views. General store ladies are more than happy to answer any questions. The jail is "just as it was". There is a restaurant in town with very good food and fun innkeeper. Watch for the free range cattle who slip thru the "gated community"

Take the ride back to Chloride and be surprised by the unusual items that are transformed into works of art. Just walking or driving around is an experience in itself. Stop at the Mineshaft Market and get an ear full of history and great tips for adventure. Van Meters is a must for unique jewelry. We visit Chloride several times when are in Laughlin.

Take the Chloride exit (there is only one, and it is well marked) off of highway 93 between Kingman and Vegas. As your driving into town, make sure to look around as there is alot of old mining equipment abandoned that is very interesting to look at. Your first stop should be the General Store. It also serves as the visitors center, and has alot of information on the history of the town besides quite a bit of strange items in the gift shop area. Continue down the road and go over the first cattle guard. Watch for the rock marked "Murals ----->". Follow the arrow and park at the end of the road. You'll see the first couple of murals, and if you do a very short hike up the trail you can see them all. Make sure you watch for the rock with the arrow!!! If you continue straight instead you'll end up at an active mine that doesn't appreciate visitors! Once your done with the murals, drive around this quirky little town. It looks as if they are trying to make this more into a tourist area, but it's more quirky than touristy. While in town, we stopped at Yesterdays bar and restaurant and had a fantastic friday fish fry. Worth the trip just for that.

Strictly speaking Chloride – located north of AZ 93, up 125,a few miles west, well northwest of Kingman – is not a ghost town. I guess all the folks living there might take umbrage at being labeled ghosts. What is sure is is a genuine historic Arizona mining town. It does have an old center with some old and disused buildings at least a century old. When you’re on 93 out of Kingman, this is indeed worth a short visit to look around. If you do, do NOT miss the murals! Follow 125 through town to the edge and then turn right, following the hand-painted signs. It’s a dirt road but it can be driven by any car – and it’s sure worth it.

Love Ghost towns and this is a living one but lots of history. Great place to visit!!! Must see murals and old town.

Have stopped here a few times while on our dirt bike rides. We always stop at the general store to find out the must see of the area. The first time we met the lady-owner. She was very friendly and informative. We went to see the spots she mentioned and had a good time. If it wasn't for her we wouldn't have seen the murals. The second time we took the rocky road past the murals to the top or the ridge past some mines to have a great ride in the snow.

Visited here a few months ago for the 6th or 7th time & tried to put the last negative experience behind me but since it traumatized the children I had with me & they are still talking about it I thought I would warn others. First off I love Chloride, my grandpa's birth certificate says "Arizona Territory" I was born & raised there. I have been to the murals, poked through antique stores, visited the historical graveyard. Last trip I brought a friend & some other children & we stopped at the grocery. Big mistake. Big, big mistake. Long story short I had told the children to pick one snack and one drink each & one of the children brought an item over to me for approval. It wasn't something I wanted them to eat so I directed them to what was ok & said "pick anything from here, but if you touch it it is yours don't touch anything unless you are getting it". I turned around and in the blink of an eye heard one of the children let out a yelp. The scary creepy troll short guy with the prison issue glasses had actually laid hands on the first child to pick a snack. He then started berating the poor child for not listening screaming "YOU WERE TOLD NOT TO TOUCH" then screaming at me "MAYBE YOU NEED HELP PARENTING" over & over again (they're not all my kids buddy but hey f you anyway).I tried to explain what I had told the children but he kept telling me I what a bad mother I was, etc. I then calmly put down the snacks, coffee cup, 2 of the large Mexican style blankets I was going to buy and said I would just leave. The man was shaking with anger and red faced he then screamed WE DONT WANT BUSINESS FROM PEOPLE LIKE YOU ANYWAY. What type of people? People with money? People with children? Blonde females? There were quite a few elderly women in there who were in tears watching it. My son & the other children were horrified and crying. There was one man who looked like a local who was laughing and kind of rolled his eyes & shrugged it off & like it was a normal thing for the guy. Thanks dude chivalry is dead I guess.Enjoy the muralsEnjoy the antiquesEnjoy the restaurants.Bring your own snacks & drinks though. I would hate to see what would have happened had there been no witnesses there.

Wonderful husband and wife hosts, knowledgable about history of town. Quite a long drive from the interstate but worth it if you enjoy history

This just off the highway jewel is worth the stop. The murals are at the end of the road you enter town on. There are signs to direct you. The road is not as bad as it looks, as we were in a truck, but others in cars. The painted murals on the rock scape are a throwback to the 60's, and great photo op.

Found this quaint "ghost town" while looking off of US 93 for the local visitor center. We found a quaint small town that had such character as a small almost deserted, it seemed, town that time forgot. It is off of Us 93 between Boulder Dam and Kingman , Arizona. I truly submit that you exit the highway and enjoy this out of the way stop. You won't regret it.

We headed out across country, hoping we would get there before the museum closed. Sadly we were too late & it was just after 4pm when we arrived, so we wandered round the town to look at the place itself. Just about to leave & we were approached by the museum owner. She opened up the place just for us and it was so very much worth it!! Fascinating to hear how the place was closed up and preserved. Worth the journey - which was great in itself.

We drove to the old cemetery first and walked around a bit, we enjoyed the quietness and the atmosphere. We drove further over the easy, flat dirt road to the heart of town. The sandy street you see in the picture with the old wooden structures are just facades for the gunfight show. The shop / information office is a fully loaded quaint shop. The lady there was friendly but not more than that. She draw us a little map to the murals, which we never found by the way....We had a bite to eat at Diggers Dave and that made the trip from Vegas an okay one...so if tyou happen to pass by and need a bite to eat,do stop. If you're looking for a place to spend a few hours...look further

Had a great visit to Chloride on a recent stay in Vegas. Truly a great example of small town America. Met some of the most friendly people in the West. The center of attention is the Post Office as everyone stops by. A one hour walk through town will make you wish you could stay and say good-bye to the hustle of Vegas. After going through town, a short ride out to the "Murals" is the finishing touch on a great half day visit. Chloride and it's residents are the true attraction. Don't miss it!

Planned ahead thanks to Tripadvisor to visit this town and the Purcell's murals.Very cool, although a scorching hot place.Drove rental sedan up the unpaved road to the murals and wandered around - please keep in mind there is no phone service (Verizon) . The path continues up the mountains, however impassable by regular vehicles, but we hiked for about half an hour further up - nothing is there - no more murals , but it is quiet and beautiful rocky landscape with plenty of echoes.I can recommend this as a nice stop to stretch the legs on the way someplace else.

WE stopped on our way to NV.we seen the sign post and turned down the road. Some people we met were nice ,but the owner of the only grocery store was rude had a very bad attitude.We talked to a man that lived there for ten years and he said the man was a jerk and always has been. The ghost town was a fake like an amusement park would have.Most of the time the stores are not open DETOUR around this place
