My husband and I took our 2 grandkids ages 8 & 4. They loved the train ride. My granddaughter loved the pony rides. You can feed the animals at certain stations and the aviary is cool for the kids. The petting zoo is great as well, and for a small fee you can feed the animals there as well. There was a new giraffe born last week. With the train ride and pony rides for 2 kids and 4 on the train, it can get pricey.

Friday October 24th .. We decided to do an adventure and our first stop was the Niabi Zoo. What a surprise for some reason the zoo was free this day. This is a small zoo but for it's size it had/has quite a few large animals. My favorite was the large cats and next the giraffes. My husband enjoyed the koi pond where we bought some food to feed the fish and ducks. After that we took the train around the park which I would say is a must. We are so glad that we had this on our to do list.

I was at this zoo 11 years ago when my son was 4. Always wanted to get back there I enjoyed it so much. My husband, my 15 year old son and I went this past weekend and it was even better! We took the train around the park when we came in and when we got off the train the path leads you to everything you want to see without getting lost. Everything was very well maintained and the variety of animals was great. Its just a very nice size zoo and reasonably priced. Nice way to spend a few hours.

Nice zoo to walk around. Not a whole lot of animals but it's still enough to kill a few hours with the kids. Fairly priced to get in.

They have more animals than Brookfield Zoo in Chicago, and no crowds or waits in line. You are able to get closer to the animals and the zoo is the perfect size not to small and not to big. Perfect for families with smaller children.

Yes some crucial, typical zoo animals are missing, but it's still a good time for all ages. Less expensive than other zoos. Worth a visit if you're in the area with your family.

We went on a Thursday (July 31st) and it was not crowded at all. Admission is not bad, Adults $8.25, children 3-12 $6.25, Seniors $7.25 and kids 2 and under are free. Parking is free. Takes about 3 hours to go through. Not a real large type of zoo. The Giraffe feeding was kind of a joke....... the line was long and you pay $4.00 for 2 "small" leaves of romaine lettuce and it goes so fast that its hard to even get a picture!! The Australian walkabout is being redone so there are no Wallabies walking around like usual and really the only thing to do in there is to feed the Lorikeets which is $2.00 for a cup of nectar. This is a very neat experience provided you don't mind birds flying and landing all over you! Older kids (11-16) thought this was THE BEST part of the zoo trip! My son had 4 birds on him all at once. There were no monkeys out. Lions were not in their regular area but instead were put in cages in the center of the area. We did not see the zebra nor the ostrich. We did not see the Black and White Colobus Monkey, either. The train ride was fun and only cost $2.00 per person. They do have pony rides for children 85 pounds and under with the cost being $4.00 per child. The food and drinks are about normal for this kind of place. $2.50 for a large bottle of water. Hotdogs $3.50. Burgers $5.50. Gift shop was decent but of course pricey. all in all it was a fun decent trip with cost very minimum for a zoo trip!

Those expecting a zoo like you would find in a major metropolitan area would be disappointed with the Niabi Zoo. As a resident of the area who had not been to Niabi for perhaps five years,I was thrilled with what I saw when I took my three year old granddaughter there recently. The grounds were well cared for with attractive planted areas and the animal enclosures were larger and better maintained than I remember. The animals all appeared to be in excellent condition too. My granddaughter loved riding the train, the carousel & the pony in the petting zoo.If you have an opportunity to feed a giraffe,do it! My only criticism is that the food selection,at least where we ate was extremely limited;hotdogs, nachos, candy, etc. I look forward to visiting there again.

I've taken my two children - 4 and 6 - to a lot of zoos in the midwest, but none was as good of an all around package for their age than the Niabi Zoo. First, the admission for an adult and two kids was very reasonable ($20, I believe), and the charges for additional activities (Train Ride, Pony Ride, Bird Feeding, etc.) were also only a couple of dollars each. The zoo is large enough to have a wide variety of animals (not just a glorified petting farm like some of the smaller ones), but still small enough to be covered leisurely in a couple of hours, which is really important with younger kids. The only exit being through the gift shop would not have been my first choice, but that helps keep costs down, and I am adept at saying "no", so not a big deal.

We are from out of town and decided to visit the zoo on a Sunday morning. The Zoo itself was alright. Average sized, but there were a lot of animals that were not in their cages or missing all together! One thing that really bothered me is following their directions online got us lost. They have a detour because of construction...the detour doesn't exist! Need to keep up on the online updates if you want to keep customers happy!

This is our second visit to the zoo and it was great. We got there right when it opened it was a great day to walk around as it wasn't hot or crowded. The elephants were not out, so that was a bummer and they were cleaning the lion's pool so we couldn't see the lions (we could hear them because they were pawing at the metal door and yelling...glad i didn't have to clean that pool!). The best part (other than the train) was feeding the giraffes. I was more excited than my son, but i let him feed the giraffes while i snapped pictures. At 11 and 2 everyday they feed the giraffes and for $4 you can feed them two pieces of romaine lettuce. Pricey? perhaps but you are RIGHT THERE WITH GIRAFFES! plus, you get some awesome photos. If you want to feed an animal and not break the bank, i suggest the goats or the koi. The fattest fish ever (with no manners, either) are in a little pond with a pier and you can spend 50 cents and get some koi food and they practically jump out of the water to get koi chum. it is amazing, but gross at the same time. what's not to love? The goats are slobbery eaters, but they are cute and they have hand sanitizer for use afterwards.

We refer to this as "the beginner zoo." It only takes an hour or two to walk through...great for little ones. Since I was little my family has made it a yearly tradition to visit the zoo. It's a little expensive for a small zoo, but it's worth the extra money as they are continuing to update it and bring in new animals. After your zoo visit, eat at Happy Joes and enjoy some mini golf nearby. Great little outing for a family.

We were gifted three free passes for visiting the zoo that my parents won at a 4-H raffle. Upon arrival, we were inform that they no longer accept "these" passes. There was no expiration date on the passes. The manager simply stated they no longer accept these, period. Horrible PR. Sad to say that this local business no longer supports the local 4-H programs. I for one am boycotting this zoo.

This is a zoo set up for kids. There are plenty of animals to see. Walking paths go from one exhibit to another. you can get a close up look at the giraffes. We've been there twice, this year and last, with grandchildren and they have enjoyed it. The elephants have not been outside or available to see on either occasion, which was disappointing. The kids like the train ride best, as they are 3 yr. old boys. The lorikeets were an unusual exhibit as you can feed them from a little cup and get a close up look. They do bite though, so be careful. Be sure to bring your own snacks as there isn't much available in the way of food or snacks for humans. A good 2 to 3 hour adventure.

This is a nice smaller zoo with something for everyone. If you are driving along the Interstate take time to break up a drive. There are many interesting displays for any age.
