I go now and then to gamble and also enjoy the burgers. They send you coupons via the computer if you sign up for them. It's only a mile from my house so a great place to just "get away" for awhile.
This is a nice casino, the burger restaurant is amazing. It does burgers better than anyone in a 20 mile radius, I am not being hyperbolic. The buffet is mediocre and overpriced. The casino is nice, has a good selection of games that need to be updated more often. You can have great winning streaks that last for a little while, or huge losses. Their rewards system is lacking an internet login page that is actually usable. Their rewards are often very weak as well. I would say when walking through the door, you probably have a 50/50 shot of winning something, so it is pretty fair. $200 at a decent pace, can last you four hours.
Went to the Indulge Restaurant/Buffet on New Years Eve and was surprised they had a holiday special which included 2 lobster tails per person, all you can eat crab legs (which were excellent) hibachi scallops, and all their usual items at dinner buffet. The price was $35.00 per person, however it was a holiday and everything is included. They have a great dessert bar, with gelato in several different flavors, coffee bar and soft drinks too. We were there for dinner. I believe their normal dinner price is $20.00 and on Fridays its $32.00 with crab legs. We had a great experience and would definitey return.
We don't gamble, just went to enjoy a band. The band's on a stage, which helps them be seen. The sound was awful in the beginning. The sound guy kept working on it, but the acoustics of the place are a challenge. It's not set up for dancing - no surprise, you're supposed to be gambling - but this band,1976, was quite danceable and fun.
After writing a negative review two years ago I decided to visit the Grand Victoria again. They have redecorated the casino and totally revamped the buffet. Although it is the same size as before, the redecorated casino is much brighter and feels much more open. The quality of the food in the buffet is much better than before and the seating arrangement is much better also. The dealers who have been there for many years (the few who didn't jump ship to go to Rivers) are great. Unfortunately, some blackjack tables have been switched to paying 6-5 for blackjacks versus the traditional 3-2. That change is terrible for players and those tables should be avoided. In summary, the Grand Victoria has improved over the past two years, but it still has a ways to go.
This is the only casino that me, my friends, family and others never win at this casino. Something is not right about the blackjack tables and the scam u out of extra money if u hit blackjack on the lower table amounts. Would not recommend this casino to anyone unless you want to play poker downstairs
I have been to this location several times. I must say that I always have a great time. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The gaming is varied and well presented. I read some unfavorable reviews on Yahoo. Do yourself a favor and ignore them. (Maybe some sore losers!) If you are in the Elgin area, give it a try, I think you will be happy you did.
We go approximately 10 times a year. I enjoy the nickel slots. We play till either the money is gone, or when I won my money back. The new restaurant is very good, but I liked the buffet better. Always a good time for any occasion.
The grand Victoria is a good casino if your visiting elgin or nearby. It has a few dining options including a decent buffet. The boat is non smoking and is docked 24 hours a day so your always able to leave when you want. Lots of parking. Across from a metra stop also.
The hamburgers and shakes were great. They have so many choices and the Shakes are definitely worth it.
The casino is clean and every place I was in was smoke free. I miss the "old time" slots with the pull handles. While the do have a few of these, most of them are the computerized many line combination options where you can more lines that you can keep track of. Word of warning: when they say once cent and two cent slots, you cannot just bet one or two cents. The minimum is somewhere between 20 cents to 70 cents. I did better on the quarter slots than I did on these (which is not saying much). Ended up leaving in the red.
Went to Grand Victoria CasinoBuffet for a lady cousin get together. The buffet was great, chicken was moist and all agreed on that. Loved the presentation of the buffet and there were also winners which was a plus.
I used to visit the Grand Victoria often, but my husband never felt lucky at this casino so I (we) stopped coming. Then I received an e mail and mailer announcing their open slot tournament!Since I and many of my family members enjoy eating at the Prime BurgerHouse, we planned an outing for 5 of us to include lunch at Prime (Winner) and participate in the tournament (loser). They have really spruced up the casino. The machines aren't any looser if anything they may be tighter, but a good selection of slots, table games and poker room. Free convenient parking. We had a great time even though no one walked away a winner!
Free parking is great and close to metra station. Not too far from i90 either. Tables are good but more are needed. Clientele is sketchy during weekends. I've heard the food is pretty good but haven't eaten here yet. Not my first choice for casinos in the area. Rosemont is 100 x nicer
Casino sent mailers to card members advertising their 20th anniversary bash scheduled for 10/06/2014. They offered a surf and turf dinner at Buckinghams for $20.00 plus $20.00 in slot play. The ad did not say reservations were needed or seating was limited. Visited the casino on 09/25/14 to inquire and was told not to bother making plans for the dinner, it's all booked. Come to find out that the restaurant was still booking seating but only to high rollers. I witnessed a waiter at Buchinghams making arrangements for a gold card member to have dinner on the 6th but I was told not to bother. The casino manager had ZERO customer service skills, when I brought this to his attention, he lashed out at me and embarrassed me in front of the staff. He lied and was extremely rude! Worst of all, he could care less that he was losing me as a customer. I will never visit the casino again.
