Can't say anything better about this place. The sound quality of this theater can't be matched anywhere in my mind.

I live with in 35 miles of two decent size towns I could see any number of movies at. However when ever I can, I make the extra trip to see a movie at the Lorraine in Hoopeston. Any of the big blockbuster movies, the Lorraine is a must! My biggest fear is that with the economy the way it is, and the slow death of this lovely town, we will all loose what is the Lorraine Theater. The previous owners brought it back to life and have since moved on. I plead with all movie fans to make certain they take advantage of this old wonderful theater while we still have it. The price is the best, snacks and popcorn are priced well and there is a good selection. Help save one of the last single movie theaters in the state! Give it a try if you havent already, I promise you will not be disappointed!!

This is a wonderful treasure - a true art deco theater from the 1920s. huge screen, wonderful sound, roomy seats and cheapest prices all around!! A+++++++

Lorraine Theatre324 E Main StHoopeston, IL 60942(217) 283-5311Set in the middle of downtown Hoopeston is one of the few remaining single screen movie theaters still in business in Illinois. Originally constructed in 1922, the Lorraine showcases an Art Deco facade and shows first-run movies in it's 725-seat theater. Thanks to it's previous owner, it now sports a six-channel sound system, making it one of the very small number of downstate Illinois theaters to offer such an advanced sound technology. I recently took a friend (who lives in Chicago) to see Spiderman 3 here, and he was blown away by the superior sound quality compared to what one usually experiences at multiplex theaters. The manager was very friendly and shared the theater's history and trivia with us after the movie was over. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere, but definitely worth the drive for an experience that is small town Americana at it's best mixed with outstanding technology. I highly recommend the Lorraine!
