I take my grandkids here every year. They love it but with 6 grandkids it can be pretty costly plus cost of apples or pumpkins on top of the admission fee.
We went during the Fall / Halloween season. Super busy with tons of children and things to do. It was such a mad house we stayed only a few minutes. We'll give it another shot sometime.
We go yearly to cut our own tree. It is an easy trip to the field on a wagon or bus. They have trees of multiple sizes to choose from. They pick the trees up on the side of the road, shake and bundle them. Prices are very reasonable. Downfall...the johnny's really needed emptied.
My extended family decided to all spend an afternoon here recently, and while it was fun, and the kids enjoyed it, after spending $120 for 10 of us, we all felt it was not worth the price. We enjoyed the pig races and the pumpkin cannon, and the kids enjoyed a couple of the carnival rides, but that was about it. If we would have all done everything it might have been different, but none of us are that into carnival rides. I was really disappointed with the general dirtiness from all the gravel - granted it was also very windy but dust and dirt was everywhere. I was also disappointed that the "restrooms" were really filthy portable potties. I will stick with visiting the Belleville Eckerts where we can pay for what the kids want to do, and the adults don't have to pay to watch. It is much nicer, in my opinion.
I am almost 40 years old and I can remember going to the Millstadt Eckerts as a kid. I now enjoy taking my boys. This year we took our two boys and my parents along and we had a great time. I can't deny that it is a wonderful place with lots of activities. However, every year it gets more and more expensive to get in. It is $12 a person (including kids) and for 6 people it cost us $72 to get in and then another $25 for apples! Holy cow. I think that is a little overpriced. I can say we may not go next year and find a place to pick apples where we are not going to spend $100 (plus snacks when you are there).
For many coming from STL, Eckert's is a pleasant drive through the rolling hills of the Illinois countryside. Parking is free but in a grassy field. There is an entrance fee. We went on a Sunday and it was $14 EACH to enter! I was surprised at the admission but when I saw all the small kiddie rides and play activities available, I can see why the fee is so high. The activities overshadow the fact there are actual fruit trees to harvest apples from. The apples are normally 1.89 a lb but on this day they were half price. They allowed us to eat an apple for free in the orchard. They also have a huge corn maze. Make sure you take a drink in with you if it's sunny because we were stuck in there for a long time and it was very hot and no easy way to escape. Also bathrooms were port-a-potties according to my MIL. Overall a good time, just wish it cost a little less, and that you could bypass the carnival to pick apples only. BTW the Jonathan apples made the best apple pie I've ever had!
We went to their farm on a cool afternoon… Picked very many apples… Only to realize that they were very expensive… Only ended up buying a bag or two… Still spent a lot of money… We had a lot of fun Eckerts… The pumpkin cannon is awesome… Lots of rides and games and toys and playgrounds for the whole family… Can't wait to go again this year!!
We go to Eckert's every fall and it is so much fun for all ages. We love to watch the pumpkin gun. Apple picking is the best. The pig races, camel rides, bird feeding, slide, and carnival rides make this a great destination for the entire day.
I've been to this farm every autumn. My son and I love it here. They have amusement park rides, a cage full of birds where you can go in and feed them from a stick, camel rides, pig races and a apple/pumpkin cannon. It is a great time. The farm is only open during apple, pumpkin and pine tree season so it's often pretty crowded. Groupon sometimes runs great promotions as well and then it's even more crowded. It has never been so crowded that we have had to wait long for rides. The food is mostly grill-type and snacks. But it's priced well and is not bad. We usually stay from 10-3 which gives us enough time to do everything we want. I encourage anyone with children to check this place out. And don't miss the apple picking or the cannon!
I went here in October 2013 with a lot of family members and it was the first time that me and my wife got to take our daughter who was 4 1/2 months at the time. The entrance fee is a little much be we luckily had buy one get one half off coupons. They had pumpkins and harvest decorations everywhere that looked really cool. They had a few carnival type rides for kids and they had a bounce mountain. They had a small train ride that would go a little through the apple trees and my daughter rode this with her grandpa. They also had a little show that they would perform every couple of hours for the kids but adults where involved too. We took a tractor ride so we could pick out our first pumpkin for our daughter and a pumpkin to carve. Even in early October they still had plenty to choose from which surprised us. We only spent a few hours here because it was a little cold out and we didn't want to get the little one sick. Overall it was a good trip and we can't wait to take her back for strawberry and apple picking.
We went there for halloween and fall fun.pumpkin and apple picking, a pumpkin launcher, wagon rides, few small rides, a big slide that goes into a hill, goats, camel and donkey rides. just cute and fun!$10/day, but you can print off $1 savings on their website!
The haunted house is great. Riding in wagons to the pumpkin patch and apple knocking are the best! Excellent frozen custard. Varied and excellent Halloween and Christmas crafts. Good outdoor entertainment.
