Wife and I love coming here, we have seen Broadway shows, music and comedians here. It is without question, a GEM!
We have been to numerous performances at the Coronado. Even the "nosebleed" seats in the balcony are very good. Sound is excellent. The architecture is superb. Chose your performer and buy your tickets. This is one of the finest places we have been to for performances, and that includes The Met in NYC, and several venues in Chicago.
This is a treat of a theater having been restored to its glorious past. The interior is very ornate, seating is comfortable and plentiful. Parking is in a garage immediately across from the theater. Only wish they would have more quality shows and quality downtown après show places to go.
A friend and I saw The Long Island Medium here. Awesome experience in a cozy setting. The chairs were comfortable, the sound carried well. Best surprise, more bathrooms that most older theatres.
We have attended many shows at the Coronado and they have all been made more enjoyable by the beautiful theatre. I have never had a bad seat and since it is a smaller venue, you have a more intimate experience. The gold gilt and oriental styling are so over the top that it is superb.
Rockford's top-notch theater locale in the center of downtown, the Coronado is an enjoyable space to enjoy live music and public events.
The facilities a very unique and since it is a smaller facility your seats are not far from the stage.
I was at the Coronado Theater last week (06/07/14). It was my first time there, and it was exquisite. The theater is Art Deco style: highly decorated and ornate. Red dome, gold columns, great sound, classic. This is a great old theater, made with great artistry and construction.
one of the best restorations of early theaters in the country, great venue for concerts.a must see when in rockford
Always love the Coronado! Variety of shows is amazing. Always worth the visit. Saw the Symphony today perform with a house full of school children; the kids were truly enjoying themselves. The Symphony is a real gem. Yet, was just there a week ago for a Broadway show. You can always find something to your liking. The theater itself, is worth the stop.
There are so many events that go on there. We just saw the Rockford Sym Orch. It is a beautiful place and good parking close by.
This is a wow moment, the theater is red carpet, mirrors, marble, sculptures, gold ceiling, everything you would imagine of the arts, from plays, musicals, comedy, it's all magical in this wonderful, intimate, dazzling theater. You will feel like an honored quest to watch any performance here. When I was young it was a movie theater, and now completely renovated it is restored to it's grand elegance. If you get the chance to go you will forever treasure the memory
This place is beautiful. They definitely give back to the community. This place is used for both famous people and local stars :)
We were here for a dance competition in February. The theater is beautiful and parking across the street was convenient and had special pricing of $5 for our event. Some people had issues with the parking ticket pay machine not working but there was staff in the parking garage ready to assist. And they were friendly. :) Not sure if it was the theater rules or the competition rules but no outside food or drink was allowed inside - they even searched all your bags. Water bottles were the only thing allowed in and everything else had to be tossed so you may want to check this rule if you are attending an event here. There is a Subway a few blocks away and a really nice bar and grill called The District that both were within walking distance. The dressing rooms for the dancers were beautiful and spacious. The theater itself is gorgeous but we really appreciated the behind the scenes part too - especially the murphy bed in one of our rooms. Staff was very friendly and helpful and they had a freight elevator which made getting to the dressings rooms really nice. They did sell food on site. Standard food but overpriced I thought. $3 for a cup of coffee and $6 for a deli sandwich.
It is a beautiful venue very well constructed in laid out the seats are all very decent no matter where your at but all of the good sections and seating has been pre sold for years in the future to big corporations who sponsor on the side in other words if you want a good seat you have to sponsor them. Not very fair to the rest of those poor slobs who can afford to dole out huge corporate sponsorships.
