This is a regular for my daughter and son-in-law when they come to town. They enjoy the John Deere Classic every July and love to walk and play when they can.
Went here today with my husband and he played 18 holes and I went along for the ride. Beautiful golf course, super friendly staff, and great dining! He wanted to play the course after watching the John Deere tournament last weekend so we took the drive and checked it out. Clubhouse is great...there is a pro shop, dining and very clean restrooms. Would be a wonderful location for a wedding. Called ahead and asked if I could ride along and they were very accommodating and said it wasn't a problem. Started on the back 9 (most likely cause they were tearing down the stands from the PGA tournament which was really neat to see still up from a few days ago). There a gorgeous views from every hole...course is very well maintained though some parts were hard to find the ball in the thick grass. Husbands advice-greens a very fast...lots of lost balls (and found a bunch in the grass that were well hidden and probably frustrated a golfer or two earlier that day!) Anyone who is more than a rookie should try out this course. Stay for lunch or dinner too! We had a great late lunch in the clubhouse (get the Parmesan chips!!) and excellent service by the waiter. Love this course and will return next season!Best advice...if it rains bring lots of bug spray...the Mosquitos and gnats were awful and my husband and the others rushed the game in the end cause it got so bad!
If your looking for a challenge this is the golf course for you. TPC is home to John Deer Classic on the PGA tour. I played it a week ago and it was fun Humbling but very fun. Well kept and gorgeous layout with the Rock river run in next to it. Staff was great and very friendly. Recommend for outing with friends or great to impress business partners.
I have been here for both the John Deere Classic and to play. It's really easy to get to and really an enjoyable place to see the pro's play. Its really beautiful there. Trees, the Rock River along #16, just awesome. I have played it a few times as well. It's tough but not impossible. It is my favorite course that I have played. I can't to play it again this year.
I played TPC Deere Run in August this year. I had seen it on television but that did not do it justice. It was challenging in that it had a lot of bunkers and difficult greens, but the fairways were generous and I found the course playable. A key is probably to play the correct set of tees for your ability. I am a senior, with a handicap index of about 15. We played the White tees at a yardage of 5990 and I didn't feel overwhelmed even though it is a course played by the pros in a televised PGA tournament. It was a fun experience.
Very friendly staff, reasonable rates from 2:00 on - $59 for 9 w/cart, or $69 for 18 w/cart. Challenging course, but worth the effort. Great food and friendly service in the clubhouse grille. Great way to break up a long road trip.
What a let down.Have always wanted to eat here, finally did. Average to poor food sent mine back and no differance still under cooked burger. Fries look like they are house made.If so they are grose limp greasie (horible) The clubhouse is dull and needs a facelift looks like the JDC beats up the place. The place had a funky sewer smell also. Speaking of sewer the restrooms look like they are from the 70s and are filthy. Go ahead and golf here but eat somewhere else you will be glad you did!
So you are surrounded by corn fields in rural America driving into the little town of Silvis, IL. Who would have guessed there is a PGA course here in the middle of nowhere. The scenery surrounding TPC is breathtaking - and I don't even golf! Have attended the John Deere Classic for a number of years and worked as a volunteer as well. Friendly people surround this community and John Deere makes the players feel like family while they are here in the Quad Cities. I've also been to lunches and evening events at the clubhouse and the food is great. If you get the chance - go, even if you don't golf - there is plenty to do and appreciate the beauty of this course.
Awesome. Great venue. Great amenities. Will go every year if possible. Great small tourney feel, not to overwhelming. Pro golfers are very nice and and crowds are smaller making for a very intimate experience. Course is beautiful with trees and river, etc.
After watching the thrilling end to the PGA's John Deere Classic Golf Tournament (held each year in mid-July), diehard golfing fans can wait a day and then get to play the TPC Deere Run golf course with the pin placement identical to that at the tournament's final round! Our group of golfing buddies from southern Indiana and Tennessee have been coming up to the Quad Cities area for the last 5 years and taking on this incredible golf course with an eye to seeing how we would stack up against the pros. Not only are the greens spacious and undulating, but in perfect condition and flawlessly manicured. The course layout isn't just difficult, but scenically fantastic...from Rock River views, to scary-high cart-path bridges spanning chasms and creeks, to picturesque greenside barns and precipitous, forested cliffs and hills. The golf staff at TPC Deere Run are attentive to golfers' needs (water, beverages, towels) and the experience makes you appreciate golfing at its very best.
John Deere Classic is held there yearly and is worth the trip to see it.It is a beautiful course and top notch in our area. I don't golf but I enjoy attending the events there and my friends that do golf say its one of the best in our area.
We enjoyed visiting during the John Deere Classic. This will be on our schedule every year.....and to think of the millions of dollars given back to the many charities in the local communities. This is truly a special place.
Drove from Chicago last weekend with my wife to play a round. The course design is so much fun. It is a very difficult course but I loved the challenge and the layout a lot. I will definitely come back. The greens were not in the greatest shape, but the course overall was in good shape. The starter and rangers were all friendly and courteous. ++
Went with my wife as a birthday gift and loved every minute of it. The grounds are beautiful and if you play to tees that meet your ability the tee to green is tough but manageable. Believe me you do not need to add unnecessary length to the tees you select because the green complexes will give you all you can handle and more. The course is fair but tough and the greens are fast and will test your ability to read them. The Staff, I could not say enough on how welcoming they were and helpful knowing we were first-timers. The starter was a wonderful woman that gave us all kinds of helpful hints and the marshals actually did there job on keeping pace of play moving (4 hours and 30 Mins) and They were pleasant about it not arrogant like I have experienced at some other top line and less than top-line courses I have played. This is a must play! The clubhouse, pro shop, restaurant and practice facility all top notch. I even saw the beverage cart every 3 holes because they had one on the front and back sides not one for the entire course, plus a half way house at 10 tee.Do yourself a favor and go play!
Great course design here. No bad holes at all, and well maintained despite the drought. Very challenging, but fair. Staff is friendly, scenery and grounds are nice, all at a reasonable rate. Can't wait to get back there.
