The last couple of years have been a nightmare.Last year the first shipment froze because they didn't properly mark the box as requested. The second shipment was the wrong type of orange - navels. It took a third shipment to get the correct type of oranges and they neglected to mark the box "Hold for customer pickup at Post Office."Here's our story from this winter. We ordered two trays of Page oranges, asking them to mark the box "Hold for customer pickup at Post Office" because we live in Wisconsin and the weather was very cold. The box was delivered and left on our front porch but fortunately we were home to retrieve them. Upon inspection it was obvious these oranges had been subjected to frost, probably even before packing. Most had black spots and a number of them were mushy. I called to have a replacement order shipped. They gave me a ship date but never shipped. I called again. They gave me a ship date but again never shipped. I called again only to have them tell me they were out of Page oranges but would substitute. We got Temple oranges a month later and weren't thrilled. We're done with them.
Hands down this place had the best fruit in the state and with that said. I had set up a monthly plan to send oranges to family members and the oranges were terrible. I am sure they farm their monthly fruit deliveries out as I have never had a bad orange here. They have very clean restrooms and the hot water is now working again. Free samples and lots of other Florida trinkets.
We stopped at this place after taking a little detour on our way to Bradenton. Free samples of orange juice, orange slices and sampling of some of their jams led us to buy a bag of oranges and some of the sweetest, pure tasting marmalade if have ever had. They also have amazing vidalia onion-orange hot sauce. A great place to stop for some delicious treats.
Because of my positive impression of the Orange Shop when I stopped there in person, I decided to order some Honeybells from them on line. The order was made mid December with delivery requested mid January. To make a long story short: I paid a premium price for the Honeybells, have endured weeks of frustrating calls and emails trying to get my order, and when a box finally arrived FIVE WEEKS late, the Orange Shop had substituted, without consulting me, navel oranges instead of the premium product that I paid for. Save yourself the headache and avoid this company!! No one that I've come in contact with seems to care about customer satisfaction.
Best Stop for Oranges and Orange products. We do not often drive to FL from MA, but when we try to stop at the Orange Shop.Samples are always available for the citrus and OJ. Their selection of citrus is always in season and fresh. No holdovers from previous months. The dressings and jellies are also wonderful. Worth the trip. Even our FL family is happy when we arrive with Orange Shop friits=:)The staff has always been helpful and friendly.
We stopped by here on the way back from Tampa this past week to pick up some Honeybell oranges. They had samples of fresh orange juice and oranges out on the counter. The best experience was when we were leaving a car pulled up next to ours and the lady asked, "do you want to pick some oranges." Thinking i would get in some kind of trouble asked her back, "is that allowed?" She said it was today as she and her husband owned the place. They then let my kids pick a few oranges from the trees and gave me a little history on orange trees. We will definitely be back to the Orange Shop. The oranges taste great too,,,
Take a trip back in time and stop at the Orange Shop in Citra, Fl for a drink of the very best fresh squeezed orange juice I have ever had anywhere!!
Last year when we visited the shop we were very pleased. They had a good selection of fruit and were very helpful in our placing and order for delivery. This year, although their catalog showed several varities should be in season, they only had one type of orange. That orange was the same one you can get at the grocery store. When we asked about ordering some other varities, they said we should use the 800 number because they did not know anything about deliveries. Unfortunately we had driven 45 minutes to get this reception. I guess we will buy our oranges at the grocery store in the future.
A local business that has been around a good many years. Friendly service and neat knickknacks that go with citrus products.
In the olden days when route 301 was a main road in Florida, a stop at the Orange Shop was easier than it is now. But if you take the time to get off the interstate, you are in for a treat. My first visit was in 1965. I always enjoy stopping here because it is like a refreshment oasis. I have always found the juice to be sweet, flavorful, lots of pulp, and very fulfilling.
This place has been around for years. The fruit is first class. They have lots of Florida goodies as well. The service is friendly. All of that pales compared to their orange juice...it's to die for. If you are driving through Florida, it is worth the stop. They also have a website & ship fruit.
Grew up stopping by this slice of old Florida.Get some fresh squeezed orange juice while you are there. The Jams ,Jellies and Marmalades are fantastic. So is everything else in this place in the heart of Citra on 301.Don't miss an opportunity to stop in and check them out.
It took me half an hour to remember and google the name of this place and make sure it was the right one. On my way to Sarasota, Florida from New York, I fell for the road signs announcing "fresh squeezed orange juice ahead", and I actually drove a few miles out of my way to get to this place. If you are looking for a vast array of orange-inspired merchandise, look no further. But if you were hoping for actual fresh-squeezed orange juice, don't waste your time and money. Sure, what they sold us had orange juice IN it, but it's very watered down. We bought a quart, and you could see the juice at the bottom and you could clearly see where the rest of the container had simply been filled up with water. If you buy "Simply Orange" juice at Wal-Mart for five bucks a gallon, you will get much better juice, and it's all juice, no water added. But this stuff they sell at "The Orange Shop" would be more aptly called "Simply Water with a Splash of Orange Juice." I'm sorry to rain on the parade, but I have to call it like I see it.
Oranges. That's what Florida is known for. And this shop delivers. Also love the honey and citrus marmelades. Staff could use some customer service skills though.
Traveling north from Tampa most travelers use the Interestate highways for speed and convenience. However, those in the know get off the "big" road at Ocala, and get on the smaller, yet just as convenient, U.S Highway 301. Having been four-laned almost all the way north, HWY 301 is a great alternative to the traffic and nothingness of the interstate.Along the way are several special things to see, and one of those is the Orange Shop, in Citra, FL.Located in an orange/tangerine grove, the Orange Shop has been a great place to purchase high quality, reasonably priced Florida citrus for a lot of years.Friendly clerks, gracious samples, and good prices are special reasons to stop and pick u[p tjose tasty treat to take back north. The Orange Shop should be a must see and stop for any tourist heading back to the cold north.
