doral resort - great white golf course

First time to Doral and first time to play the Great White Course. I have played the Greg Norman course in Mission Hills, China, so was interested in the compare. I had heard that it was a very difficult course. I am a 10 handicapper and played from the white tees. Firstly, it is a nice course, but not a great course. It is very open, which reduces the degree of difficulty with no rough to speak of. What makes the course interesting is that it is more like a desert course, because once you get off the fairway, you are on sand and gravel. The course is not for you if you are looking for peace and quiet. The course is directly on the flight path into Miami Airport, so planes are coming directly overhead every 2 - 3 minutes. It didn't bother me as I like watching the aircraft, but may not be for everyone. If I compared the course to Shenzhen, it has all the characteristics of a Norman course, with Greens elevated with severe run offs. The course in Shenzhen is much nicer and much more challenging. The condition of the course was fair to average. I was really surprised at how many unfilled divots there were on the fairways. The Greens roll quite nicely, but in poor condition with lots of Poa growing through, so not very nice to look at. Overall, it was a good day and I enjoyed the experience. I wouldn't rush to return.

Trump is in the process of selling this parcel off. In terrible condition and like playing in a large construction site. Greens are virtually un-puttable.

Staying at what you would think is a 4 or 5 star resort and golf club.....check in was fine, no balls on range!! golf was extremely slow and no ranger to be seen on entire course to keep it moving. If you are looking for a slow round on a mediocre course....this is your ticket!!!

The course is a fun course to play. Pretty wide open and easy.The bathrooms by the 15th tee are closed. With portapotties substituted. It does not appear that work is underway.

The course is nice. Water everywhere and lots of waste areas (hard pack sand). More of a precision course than a distance course. Very windy days can be a challenge. Well kept and worth the money.

Course has been ignored since it is soon closing. New Red & Silver should more than make up for it, plus the Blue Monster the best in South Florida

course really got a facelift. I LOOOOOOVE THE LAYOUT of this course. cannot wait to get back and play

Facility was in great shape . . . rough was playable and open . . . the course had the look of a desert course only tropical.

Enjoyable and challenging course, worth playing. Looks easier to play than how it plays; has some very challenging holes.

Really nice course, with plenty of challenging holes. Competent women golfers need to play off the mens tees as the red tee course was ridiculously short!

Played here and found water everywhere. The fairways are generous but if you haven't played all winter and then tee it up be prepared to lose some balls. Water was on most non par 3 holes. Greens were in good shape as were fairways. Palm trees abutted most holes. I wasn't particulary fond of the tightness of course(lots of "Four") and then ducking. The cart lady didn't come around as much as I would have liked but all in all an enjoyable golf experience(and much less expensive then the Blue)

Come play it while you can. Course is scheduled to close and be made into a mall. Very sad. JPMorgan is trying to recoup loses. Too bad, it was really a great course and should be preserved. Surprised the locals are allowing it... but I guess money talks, especially when its a pocket.

The Great White is a well-kept and hard course. Avoid the water and hit straight. Also, it is a little less expensive than the blue monster. This Greg Norman course is a great spot.

Keep your ball out of the waste areas and your score should be pretty good. The greens weren't too fast. Fast enough for the low handicaps and not too fast for the high handicaps. Some of the sand bunkers were soft and others firmer. Be advised that Miami Intnl Airport is in the glide path of the resort. This may distract you, I found myself looking up as they came overhead. This wasn't a big deal for me.

Great property. Tough course. In the path of the planes for Miami Airport which was distracting. No elevation change.
