Just around the corner from Whitcomb Bayou is Spring Bayou with is a smallish bayou featuring manatees and dolphins this time of year. We walk it daily with the dogs and then come back with our kayaks later in the day. Great park.
The bayou is a favorite spot of ours. Great place for a nice walk or sit down and enjoy the weather. Good fishing. Great Manatee sightseeing at the right time of year. A relaxing stop.
A great close-up view of manatee and dolphins when they venture into the bayous off the Anclote River.
Came during a cold spell on the west coast of florida. Bayou was at that time a refuge for the manatees that were trying to get inland from the cold gulf waters. Beautiful sight.
I used to live half a block off of Whitcomb Bayou. There is some construction going on there right now, but usually it's a good place to walk your doggies and to see manatees! Lots of skiers all year round, too.
We rented an apartment located exactly 150 steps from the Bayou. We also attended the Epiphany which was held in Sprig Bayou which is connected to Whitcomb Bayou. Craig Park is located around Whitcomb Bayou and it is a great park to walk your dog or just by yourself.
This is a beautiful little area near the Sponge Docks, quite, serene, beautiful sunsets, and early in the morning you can see the manatee!!
Visiting Tarpon Springs is a great trip if you are in Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater area. The town has winding roads around several Bayou's that lead to the Gulf. During the winter manatee's are visiting Spring Bayou (the gem of all Bayou's) to snuggle up to the warm spring water. Craig Park has beautiful trees and benches to sit and relax viewing Spring Bayou and some historic homes surrounding it.. You can launch a kayak and travel in calm waters around surrounding Bayou's and end up at the Sponge Dock area where there are restaurants and shops to visit. Tarpon Springs is a charming town, and nice to visit where traffic is slower paced and is less of a hustle and bustle area as most cities in Florida.
