Wasn't able to spend as much time here as I'd have liked. Husband was having knee problems so couldn't walk (he waited in the car). The boardwalk is REALLY impressive, with places to get off and walk to the water (I didn't actually do this). I'd thought it was just a short little walk; however, the whole thing is a loop that runs over a mile! I met some women coming toward me after I'd been walking for quite a while and they told me I was only about a third of the way. I turned back (feeling I'd left Mike alone long enough). He even called to ask where I was because he'd also found out how long this boardwalk was. Very open. Go when it's cool. Take water and possibly bug repellent. Looking forward to returning now his knee is better and really explore the place. Lovely views. Places to rest. Clean restrooms. You can spend a LOT of time enjoying this park.
Dogs are not allowed on the boardwalk after 10:00 am. Dogs are only allowed to go to the intracoastal side of the park. They aren't allowed on the beach side. At high tide there is not much "beach" to enjoy.
It was a cloudy cool day, so we went for a drive a decided to stop here. $10 to get in. We enjoyed the walk. Watched surfers. Saw gopher turtles, ospreys, pelicans and other birds. And a raccoon. Enjoyed it.
Dunes Park is a lovely place to traverse when headed to the beach. It is quite a walk, roughly 1.5 miles on an elevated wooden walkway. Dogs are allowed in some, but not all areas. The beach is quite nice with white sand. Be aware that one section allows beach driving so be careful where you walk!
This park is a glimpse into what most of the Florida coast looked like a long time ago. The park is a series of shelters and raised walkways in and around the sand dunes of the area. It's amazing to see the different things growing through the park, from lush vegetation to pretty much a desert. There are many sections of stairs that give you access to the beach from the walkways and we found the beach area around the Ponce Inlet to be very nice for walking. You can access this park from the main road and pay your entry fee there or you can pay to drive on the beach and drive North to the park and walk in from there. A nice place to visit for a relaxing day.
Smyrna Dunes Park is a gem in NSB. The walkway to the beach and Ponce Inlet is leisurely and relaxing. If you want to see the shore at its best make Smyrna Dunes a stop.
A picturesque setting for your dog and family to have fun together. Early mornings, after dinner and low tides are the best times to go here.
Great place to walk - all board walk - and to see Gopher turtles. The walk overlooks the Halifax River flowing into the ocean at Ponce Inlet; great view of the light house and the beach at the inlet.
This is not a free attraction, contrary to whats listed here. There is an entrance fee for this park. This is in the farthest corner of New Smyrna beach and you can drive in the park. Good for walking around and if you are spending the full day, you can have a wonderful picnic here. Not crowded at all. We were the only ones there for the most part.
Very nice and serene beach. Felt like having beach and park to yourself without being bothered. Went on Valentine's Day February 14th and it was chilly but very beautiful outside. Found nice seashells and saw washed up jellies on the shore. Gorgeous dunes and lots of walking! Would visit again
I was thrilled to see turtles in the dunes as I thought it was out of season, the good news is there are some breeds there all the time, but it's May to October for the main event. Great to visit anytime I also saw some beautiful butterflies.
This place is just lovely and the beach is great from so many different areas within the park. Note that there is a lot of walking but it's well worth it. This will be my new hang out during the summer months.
Very nice Boardwalk connected to the beach by several sets of stairs. You could also access by paying the beach fee and driving to the north end, getting both for the price of one.
At the north end of the beach the boardwalk meanders through the dunes and grassy area. Dogs love the beach walk, but be mindful of small burrs that can get in their feet. Older people enjoy a peaceful stroll with places to rest along the walkway (over a mile). Kids will enjoy the different formations and the beach which is not crowded. a view of Ponce Inlet is your reward. Hint: Try it at sunrise for a special treat.
Nice walk on a boardwalk 1 mile and a half around the dunes plenty of places to sit and relax give yourself enough time to enjoy
