While visiting Miami Beach we spent an evening at the New World Symphony program "The Bear Roars" which featured the music of Russian composers. The orchestra is comprised of young graduate-level musicians. As a retired music teacher, I was very impressed with the level of musicianship in performing this very difficult music and truly believe it to be professional quality. The inclusion of a narrator and visual media to illustrate themes and historical background was informative without being condescending. The hall is perfectly designed both acoustically and visually. All in all, a memorable evening.
We went for a special event organized through Yelp Miami and enjoyed tunes from Russian composers: Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich. PERFORMANCE: Outstanding musicians, unique performance format (which included videos, narrative, and live orchestral music), and overall sophisticated event and location. In addition to the performance, we were invited to attend a post-performance complimentary cocktail reception. I was not impressed with the quality of drinks given (but I guess you can't expect too much considering they are free and it is South Beach!). I would like to see this part of the night improved-upon. Facilities were very well-kept, clean, and the auditorium had a definite South Beach-feel to it (white walls, bright blue upholstered seating, and overall colorful lighting). I would return this venue for another event in the future.
Although not a classical music fan, attended a performance at the New World Centre in Miami, as part of a birthday celebration and was very impressed both by the concert hall itself - comfortable raked seating providing uninterrupted views of the orchestra, efficient catering and management and first class acoustics - coupled with a stunning performance of Mahler's 'Titan' Symphony No1 in D major, conducted with tremendous enthusiasm by James Conlon, which even kept me enthralled. Was particularly impressed by the video presentation, by a selected member of the Orchestra, at the beginning of the performance giving some background into his individual route into, and experiences of, classical music, which really helped to involve one in what was happening.Whatever your musical taste, a visit to a performance of the New World Symphony - America's Orchestral Academy - at the New World Centre should be included in your Miami visit itinerary. tses
I saw this wonderful orchestra perform, and was impressed with their excellence. I would highly recommend seeing this orchestra perform if you are in Miami.
Weekly movies in their front yard park free. symphony on wall in park also sometimes. They call it Wallcast at the New World Symphony.
Love to sit in the park with a snack or wine and watch the wall at of the New World Symphony with the hundreds of other music lovers
Sit under the stars, with swaying palm trees and a light tropical breeze while listening to a first class orchestra playing wonderful classical music and all this is free. New World Symphony, a training fellowship for extremely talented musicians, has created a park outside the symphony hall with fantastic acoustics and up close visuals of the musicians and orchestra. Bring a picnic, wine and friends, but get there well before performance time to insure you get a space on the lawn. If you enjoy classical music under the stars, you can't miss this!

We are watching and listening to a Wallcast on a 7 story wall while sitting on the lawn with surround sound on Miami Beach, under a full moon. Absolutely delightful and I know nothing about classical music.I am writing this during the intermission. The weather is perfect.
I adored appreciating the shape of the gardens and its acoustics, besides its archicteture. Stay there as much as you can, enjoying as the fabulous details of the buildings.
