Personally I love little farm stores like this! Stop in and do some shopping and tasting. They have tours as well, though we did not do one.Maple Syrup, meats, jams, Cabot Cheese, fudge, and more!
My husband and I moved to Vermont several years ago, and Dakin Farm is one of our regular stops. In the summer, we stop in for Maple Frozen yogurts in a cone. Delicious! In the fall, we stop in to get a small spiral ham or turkey for the holidays. In the Spring we come in for maple syrup! Plus we stop in every few weeks when we are craving bacon, cheese, or need a gift to send back home! There are many things to sample before you purchase: syrup, meats, cheeses, jams, mustards, etc. They have a great selection of local cheeses and it's the easiest place for us to find our favorite Cabot Habanero. We definitely would recommend this place for any traveling that needs a snack for the trail or a gift to take home!
There were 52 seniors who descended upon Dakin Farm as we toured the New England States. This was a nice stop for shopping and tasting. We purchased delicious sausages and pepperoni to take home to Tennessee. The shop is filled with all kinds of goodies, including Vermont Maple Syrup, Cabot cheeses, hams, bacon, etc. They have a mailing list and catalogs. A nice place to stop.
We had stopped at one "Maple Farm" earlier, and decided to see if this one had anything different. We were pleased with our visit. Dakin actually makes the syrup they sell. They have a mail-order catalog online that we have used to order the things we saw there. The people were very friendly and informative. It's a large store with a lot to offer!
Dakin Farm has without question, the best bacon ever. They smoke it right there in the store so freshness likely has something to do with why it's so good. Try the smoked hams too. We're hooked on both. Delicious!
This was our first stop after our ferry crossing to Vermont. We got there about 10 am and were still there at 11:30. there must have been over 50 samples and i think we tried them all, meats ,cheeses, jams, jellies, relishes, pop corn and of course maple syrup. Everything was tasty. They make the cheese and smoked meats right there. The people who work there are polite and helpful. The place is clean and everything is fresh. Everything was so good that we went there again 2 days later. DON"T miss this place !!!!
We have coming here for many years and are always pleased to drop in for a few cheese & sausage samples and we always walk away pleased with our purchases. They have an excellent variety of Vermont products including maple syrup, meats, jams, chutneys, sauces and many other items. This is and has always been a great place to drop in !
My husband and I stopped here today and were very pleased with the excellent selection of Vermont specialties - maple syrup, cheeses, smoked meats, and many other items such as fudge! I could not resist the maple walnut fudge and it is delicious! We only experienced the store today but here are tours as well. This is a great place to stop and shop!
If you like freshly smoked meats, this store is for you. They make the best Kabanos ever! My wife makes her own using the old-world Polish smoking method which is a pretty high bar, but Dakin's is as good. (I wouldn't dare say better than my wifes, but umm...) Try their hams too. Very high quality. We stop there every time we pass by on Route 7 on our way to Burlington and have never bought anything there that was not exceptional. Enjoy!
We have stopped here on several occasions and enjoyed ourself more each time. Now, if you don't like sampling cheeses, meat, jellies or jams - if you don't like getting out and stretching your legs, walking around and enjoying the area - if you don't want to try some awesome VT coffees and you don't need to make a pee stop, then you might not like the place, but if you like to do any of these things, you'll be glad you stopped.
