vermont ski museum

Current exhibit includes ski fashions over the last 80-100 years. Fabrics for ski clothing have changed. Technology has made a huge difference in our ability to keep warm and dry. Excellent ski documentary was playing on the screen. We bought a copy of the DVD so that we can watch the whole thing at home. Great display of chairlifts (hanging from the ceiling) included single chair lifts, gondola, and other chairs. This museum is well worth visiting.

We travel for outdoor time and don't even relish a lengthy meal in a nice restaurant let alone bring cooped up in a museum, but this is a great thing to see. We especially were impresses with the exhibit honoring the 10th mountain division- amazing samples of actual tent, uniforms, equipment. Awesome tribute to our veterans.

This place showcases to much equipment that's not from Vermont and that caused far too many ski-injuries (junk, in fact). The curators are way under-informed about the real history of most ski-equipment. Sad for a real ski-town.

Well presented and lots of ski memorabilia. A skiers delight if they are also a history buff. Lots of information about the history of skiing in the area as well as famous skiers from the area.

It was ok but the NH ski museum is so much better. In and out in less than a hour only because we chatted with the tour guide.

Every museum depends on donations to do their upkeeping. So, donate & learn about all the interesting stories of skiing. We spent more time than we thought we were going to spend.

The Museum is small. I wouldn't make a special trip to see it. But if you are in the Town of Stowe, Main Street, check it out.

It took us about an hour and 30 minutes because we sat through the movie. The movie was an hour, which we did not know. It was all about the history of skiing in the US rather than the history of Stowe. It was interesting. The museum was 5.00 a person or 10.00 a family. The person at the front desk was friendly and counted us as a family. Original Moriarty hats were still for sale (if you get there before they are gone) in the very tiny gift shop. Of course you can take as long as you want looking at the artifacts. A little gem to be seen.

We saw a great film about the skiing that took and still does at Dartmouth College. It was long, but informative.

A neat little museum and worth seeing if you like to ski or snow board. Friendly person at desk who provided us with lots of information about the museum and the town.

Unfriendly & unhelpful woman at ticket sales. No smile. No "welcome to our museum, do you have any questions?" Just a brusque, "$10 a family," as she didn't even look our direction, and you can forget about the smile. What do you know--we didn't stay. And they can forget about our $10.

This hidden gem in Stowe, which we came upon as we were strolling alon the main street in the center of Stowe, popped out like a Jack in the Box. We went there three years ago and the whole family enjoyed it! It's a perfect spot to learn anectdotally about skiing, it's personalities and history.

It bit more like a shop with extras and quite pricey compared to other things we did on our holiday but interesting nevertheless. Good videos with modern day film but history too. Lots of information around the place and some interesting things to see.

We loved this converted church that has become a museum. It has a comprehensive collection of skis and ski memorabilia. We loved the old chair-lift car in the center of the building.

A nice 20 minute stop but keep in mind this museum is very small.Most items are still not labeled, so you don't get to see or hear the history behind them. They have some really old equipment, but you have no idea exactly how old it is.$5/person is a lot considering the size of this place, but hopefully it'll help them better label everything and get some more stuff in there.
