This is a lovely place to visit. It has so much history and you will not be disappointed in seeing these gardens.
Excellent visit great storyline history of seiberling family. Manner house and gardens a must do! Many special events Father's Day car show home and flower show.
The Christmas tour was a lot of fun. Packed and a little crowded but still well worth it! The grounds are lit up as well at this time of year and make it even more special. Parking was a hassle, but they had shuttle buses to make it easier.
An interesting look back in history of what life was like for the powerful and rich tire manufacturers. The old saying "where the rubber meets the road" was actually coined about Akron, Ohio
Stan Hywet is a must see. One of the largest houses in the United States on 70 beautiful acres. Many of the furnishings are from medieval England and are beautiful and distinctive.
This is the home of one of the rubber companies families. It is well preserved and even expanded. A true treasure to the city.
So beautiful and unlike any place I've seen. The grounds are beautiful too...Not a great choice if you have trouble walking.
Stany Hywet Home, Hall, & Gardens are a travel back to the Golden Age of Luxury. The home is an American castle built in the heart of Akron by the Seiberling family in the early 20th Century. The home has been restored to the way it was when occupied by the Rubber Magnate and his family. The home features a huge great room, a music hall, living quarters of a large European style mansion. The grounds are maintained in the majestic fashion of an English Tudor Mansion which the home is patterned after. The home offers a glimpse into the opulence of early 20th Century wealth. A stroll along the grounds on a nice day is a must. Stan Hywet is a must for history buffs or architectural fans to see.
There's something to see here year round. My favorite are the lights at Christmas! Heck, I even love driving by.
Through the guided tour you are able to see the beautiful surroundings and interior of this Grand place. The guides are very well versed on the period history of the mansion. The outdoor butterfly enclosure and gardens will leave you breathless.
Beautiful place, interesting historic landmark of the city, nice views. Expensive. A must do in Akron!
This is a beautiful old home with outstanding gardens in the middle of the city Akron. Home of the Rubber Factory. I just lovegoing in the spring to see all the flowers. Many other things are held there as a quilt show and Ohio Mart in the fall. Has easy parking.
A real treasure for Akron is the Seiberling Mansion Home with many, many antiques inside & gorgeous gardens outside. Plus a New learn & play area for kids of all ages to enjoy. Make it a point to see Stan Hywet whenever you are in Akron, Oh.
Stroll through the gardens and be sure to tour the interior. The guides have great info and will share special tidbits with you if you show some interest. In the summer they have hosted outdoor events and country markets. All worth the trip.I supplied some of the ornamental, concrete garden pieces when I was working so a trip to Stan Hywet always brings back fond memories.
Only took me 50 years but I can finally say I have been inside the mansion. I have visited the Gate Lodge several times and learned a lot of the history that had happened there but had never actually gone through the Manor House. Wow was I missing something. We visited during the Deck the Halls event. Each room was decorated in a different world theme so you were able to see how Christmas is celebrated around the world. That was nice to see but the real attraction is the House itself. Beautiful intricate carvings in the doorways. Elaborate rooms. Original Furnishings. You couldn't help but to wonder how many hidden chambers are through out the house. It takes you back a 100 years. You get to see inside one of the most influential people of the times. You always hear if these walls could talk. These walls do talk and tell a great story. If you visit Akron for any reason I highly recommend a visit. We will definitely be back. And hope to take the nooks and crannies tour and maybe find a couple of those hidden passages.
