Our first visit to this state park campground was enjoyable. The campground is locate in a rural area and surrounds a small lake. The autumn colors were beautiful for our mid-October visit. There is an easy 2.5 mile trail around the Lake. Plenty of space between campsites. The facilities ( restrooms/shower houses) were the nicest I've seen in any state park. Great place to relax and enjoy camping.

We took a Sunday afternoon trip to Harrison Lake and we were very happy we did. The park is beautiful and has ample restroom facilities. We had a picnic and the scenery from our shelter house was beautiful. We took our kayaks out and the no wake lake was a perfect place for our family to get in some leisurely paddling. We finished off our day with a swim, though it was a bit cold we braved it anyways! The water is not the best for swimming, the swimming area is not very big. But the beach itself was immaculate and ample in size for the waterfront it covered. Picnic tables were nearby so we could stash our belongings out of sand and water's way. We will definitely be returning to Harrison Lake!

It's been over a year since my last review of this campground. We just spent the weekend there. We were not on the main side of the campground (North side) as we booked a reservation on short notice, but we still managed to get an electric site on the South side--located on the other side of the lake. Once again--a wonderful experience for the whole family. Everything is extremely clean--my husband said that even the bathrooms with the flushless toilets were very clean and odor free. The shower house was extremely clean both nights I used it on the North side. This is a great place for people with RVs/travel trailers or tents. In fact, there were several tent campers there over the weekend. This is a good place to both relax and/or be active---biking, running, walking, swimming, playgrounds, row boat/paddle boat/kayaking, fishing. They had crafts on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. near the main office for the kids/families to do.This place has always felt very safe (we've been going there for 15 yrs), and the staff/camper hosts do a wonderful job.

Many other positive reviews led us here. We extended our stay here because of the dedication that the staff showed in keeping this park top notch..open space, nice lake, clean facilities...gotta love it

We only live 41 miles away. We decided to check out our motor home after it being service just for one night. We got the last site in the middle of the afternoon and it was a great rooming site. The park was very clean and even the restroom which I didn't need but just want to check it out. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is very nice just to walk around and by the lake and dam.We stayed here a few years ago at the end of the season and there were only one other camper and talk about a quite campground at that time of the season. We will be back again with our grandchildren.

Bathroom facilities are so nice and clean. Rangers were friendly. Lots of spots to grill. Water murkey but cool. Beach area needs to be increased as it gets very crowded. Dam is beautiful. Lots of extras to do around like paddle boating and bike rentals.

What a nice , clean, family oriented state owned camp ground and park. We'll be back. The restrooms are clean, showers are clean with lots of hot water.

I really enjoy this campground/park. It is very clean and relaxing. We bring our bikes and kayak with us. You can also rent bikes and boats here too. The main side of the campground has all electric sites. You will also find all the flush toilets/running water/showers on that side. The other side of the lake has some electric sites and has primitive sites. That side doesn't have flush toilets. I just find this campground to be very family-oriented, safe and well-kept. We have camped here many times over the past several years.

We drove to Harrison Lake after spending the day at Sauder Village, about a fifteen minute trip. The park was quite busy on this Sunday afternoon. There are limited changing facilities, just the bathroom stalls, so plan on coming in your swim gear if you can. The beach is accessed by walking a short distance from the parking lot, across a metal span bridge, to the far side of the reservoir. The beach itself, roughly 150 yards long, was very busy. The water is quite cloudy but on the ODR website it has an all clear water testing rating. The temperature is cool but refreshing on a hot day. Water depth ranges from inches to roughly 7 feet at the buoy line. There is no lifeguard. In general, a typical swimming beach for a reservoir setting.

I visited this park because they had a dog beach. I would not recommend the dog beach at all. The area was very small, there was no parking nearby, and there was debris and dead fish in the beach area. I also had a hard time finding out if the dog beach was an off-leash area. It was not and I knew that was a possibility. However, it would have been nice if that was stated online. Otherwise, the park looked fairly nice, but nothing too impressive. We did interact with a park ranger and he was very friendly.

We come to Harrison Lake quite frequently and we love it each and every visit. We have never had any problems with loud neighbors, parties or rude people. It has always been peaceful and relaxing. My kids love to ride their bikes and play/swim at the beach. Fishing is okay too. Plenty of shade and playgrounds. No water or sewage hook up, but there is a filling and dumping station at the entrance/exit. They have canoes, paddleboats, cornhole boards and these weird bike things for rent by the hour.Bathrooms/shower houses are IMMACULATE! The whole park is absolutely sparkling. Whoever is in charge of this does an amazing job. Rangers patrol all day long. There is volleyball court, basketball court and shelter houses. Kids activites on the weekends (this weekend they did sand art, capture the flag and a family friendly movie in one of the shelter houses).Pets are welcome too and there has never been any complaints regarding neighbors dogs. Everyone does a great job of keeping their animals leashed. Will keep coming back again and again!

ample large sites, with lots of shade and even with all the kids around, still quite and peaceful. The local ranger patrols frequently and everyone is like neighbors. my sister-in-law lives nearby so we come here for family get togethers a lot.

Very nice, campground. Plenty of shade but not so many trees it's hard to get a camper backed in or find space for setting up chairs, etc. They allow pets and depending on where you camp, there are large open areas adjacent to your lots for animals to run / play in. Nice beach when weather warm enough, small gift shop and ice at entrance to park. No water hookups, but water available if you don't want to bring it from home. Paved street and pads, playground equipment scattered throughout the campgrounds, showerhouse, bathrooms. Nice reservation process online, they do have a rewards program (I think for Ohio State Parks, not just Harrison Lake). They do have one cabin and 2 yurts, all handicap accessible.

We have camped here on two separate occasions. Each time was always the same -- wonderful! The campground is kept clean, the bathrooms/showers are clean, and it is a very comfortable environment -- peaceful and tranquil. At their small store, you can rent these unique bikes that will give you quite a workout. But, once you get the hang of them, they are really a lot of fun.We already have plans to return in 2013.
