stone lick state park

My wife and I went there to walk the trails with our dog. Finding the park was easy. The state signs were clearly marking the roads. We had a map to get there, but if you didn't, you could still find it. Finding the trails without a map wasn't easy, but the park staff were more than eager to assist. The park looked like it was well taken care of. The trails however needed some attention as there were trees that had fallen across the path. We only had the opportunity to walk the shortest trail as thunderstorms drove us back to the car. But we did drive through several sections. It looks like a great lake to fish from the banks. There were a lot of campers parked while we were there, but there was also an antique machine show that weekend also. Overall, it looked like a good place to visit to enjoy the outdoors with family or friends.

The beach needs work. Bad. However, this is an excellent place for birders and bird watchers, as well as astronomers in the Cincinnati area. The Cincinnati Observatory hosts a free viewing night at a parking lot near the beach on clear nights about once a month all year. Some clear nights on the weekends, you can find some astronomers out there. They are very friendly and will answer any questions you have. Fishing isn't too bad at Stonelick. Great place to take the kids in the summer, and camping here is good. This park also has trails, and is great for bike riding.
