After a very long drive the previous day, this was intended to just be a “stretch the legs, get some January swings in” golf experience for an upper Midwesterner whose season is below snow and below zero temps. I ended up being pleasantly surprised by the cost, weather (42 & light breeze), golf quality, and compnany. My surprise started at check in when I was told I could play 18 holes (walking) or all day for the same $10. There is a putting green next to the clubhouse and a full length driving range facility near the clubhouse and adjacent to the 1st fairway. When playing 18, a golfer tees off from the white tees for the front 9 and the blue tees for the back 9. The course plays to 6300 total yards so it is no slouch in distance. I was told that I wasn’t getting the “real“ Oklahoma experience in that the wind was only about 5 - 10 mph versus the usual 20+.The course is relatively flat with some slight elevation changes. The fairways are tree-lined and average in width. There were a couple of holes where target golf was a wise choice. A stray drive may be recoverable in most circumstances. The greens rolled well but were small in size and well sloped. There were no “in the leather” gimmes available here as I learned on a short birdie putt. There is a creek (dry at this time) that runs through the course on 4 holes and a ditch that cuts through another 2 holes. Met up on course with a player who turned out to be great fun and had the best decked out cart I've seen in years complete with excellent tunes to entertain us. All in all it ended up being an good start to a southern golf trip. The course is a decent golf option for this small town.
