The casino was ok. I frequent it once or twice a year for this very reason. Super embarrassed because my Son was with us. We had a party of 5, my hubby, myself, our son, and my folks. We decided to eat at the restaurant. Big mistake! Not sure why and I don't wanna say what I thought was really goin on and what seemed to have been the obvious reason why we all received terrible customer service. First of all it took approximately 30 minutes to get our drinks, it took approximately 45 minutes to get our salads that we ate slowly not knowin when we'd get our meal. It took approximately 1 hour to get our meal, unacceptable. They seemed to be fully staffed with waitresses. But, when we noticed folks that came in after us ordering similar meals receiving theirs before ours was just ridiculous. Our waitress was not friendly at all and we watched her standing at the register doing nothing at times and helping other waitresses with their patrons? You all need to get you're act together and treat everyone as equals. That's all im gonna say about that. My 18 year old knew what was going on and I was ashamed. We weren't raised to be so ugly. You feel me? We will never go back to Native Lights, shame on your wait staff. In this day and age people are still acting a fool? Wow! We're originally from SoCal and I have never felt so small as I did then. Oklahoma comes off as bein stuck back in the olden days.
First time I visited Native Lights Casino was in March 2012, and I won my first ever jackpot (not a biggie, but it was totally unexpected). I continued to win money every visit thereafter until they started to tighten up their slot machines in 2014. They have very pleasant staff, and the little cafe has decent food for the price. I won't eat at their pricey restaurant as I haven't heard anything good about it, unfortunately. They have live local bands on Fri/Sat nites, too. If you plan a trip to Newkirk, visit all the casinos: Native Lights, First Council, the gas station casino next to First Council, and if you head a tad bit further South, visit Southwind of Newkirk. Four (4) casinos in a close range of each other. Heads up: I find the slot machines at Native Lights are open more during the mid-afternoon hours on Fri/Sat/Sun. Also, if you know in advance you may need a place to spend the night, contact First Council for availability at their hotel, or head South to Ponca City as they have numerous hotels/motels, too. Native Lights has very friendly employees, offer a safe environment, and allow you to play and have fun. Just be smart as if you win a chunk of change, cash out and leave. Note: they no longer have table games, just slot machines.
We have noticed every time we go there there are NEW machines everywhere. Getting more & more penny machines. Less & less $1 machines. We don't like that. We had hit 3 - jackpots in about 30 mins of walking in the door in the high roller room. The food is so-so. Rick
Standard casino, not horribly smoky, clean facilities, good customer service. There's a little snack bar that offers inexpensive food & snacks. Free pop, tea & water. The times I've been there, people (including me) actually were winning. The cashiers are nice, there seems to be adequate security. It's not a bad place to spend some time.
Never ever eat at the buffalo grill. The service is sooooo slow, took an hour to get our food served and the server don't know the first come first serve. When got there, there's only 2 table occupied, after 15 to 30 min 3 group of people came. All those 3 group got thier food before us!! How come???! The last two times we went there they charged my card too much! First time I paid $32 for the meal plus $3 tip, but my card charged $35 and another charged of $4, two separate transaction! And it happened again the 2nd time we went, I paid @38 plus $4 tip but my card was charged $45 and another $4.. Am going back there to complain!! And will never ever go back again! So everyone DO NOT EVER EAT THERE IF YOU DONT WANT TO GET CHARGED TOO MUCH!!!
My husband and I live in Wichita and we visit Native Lights Casino about once a month. It is clean and the staff is always friendly. Usually, we have pretty good luck or at least don't lose our money right away:). We like the little snack bar the food is good and cheap. Watch out for their hours though. They don't open until 10am and week nights they close at midnight.
The Casino was big and we did win a little but put most of it back- don't we all??? The thing I didn't like was the fact there is no hotel.... We like to play late and hate to drive late so we prefer to stay at a casino with a hotel.
had lot of fun got to play longer then the ks star lets ya even left with more then I went with the food was great too a little dark in therfe but loved it
