Hiking to Tamolitch Pool was outstanding! The trail is not too strenuous, there are some elevation changes but not too incredibly steep. The trail winds through maintained wilderness, with the McKenzie River Trust team taking good care of the land and trail.The trail meanders along the McKenzie River, at times veering away and wandering through the forest, or up old lava flows, giving an eclectic mix of landscapes to keep your attention....They call this thing Blue Pool for a reason! You can see from my photos, the water is the bluest I've seen outside of the deep ocean! There is a dry fall where the water is hidden in the lava flow, and the pool is where the water bubbles back to the surface. There are ledges about 35 feet off the water (some crazy people cliff jump here in the summer, but it's too cold for me), and there is one section that will let you get down to the water.To get there from Eugene/Springfield, take Hwy 126 East about 25 miles past Blue River until you see the sign for Trailbridge Campground. Take the left and go over the bridge and then take an immediate right. Follow this road until you reach the trailhead, you can't miss it.This was the perfect place for a video review of a portable item for my magazine! This is one of the most picturesque places in the country!

The walk to Tamolitch Pool is amazing enough, but the view when you turn the corner to see the pool is next level. I am not overly into hiking, but when I saw photos of this, I knew this was something I definitely had to see! Not a huge walk, but definitely worth it. If you don't go, you have missed a beautiful part of Oregon.

Hiked this trail Aug 2014. Just over 4 miles round trip (we hiked around to the back of the pool & climbed down) the water is amazing. I have never seen such blue water. A must see!

I this this is the most beautiful place on the earth! The water color is so beautiful you have to see it to believe it! We try to do this hike at least once a year. Be careful of bike riders on the trail and it's an easy walk. The water comes up from nowhere but one year we were there it had a water fall coming down. We had a lot of rain, I know that's shocking in Oregon !

The Tamolitch pool trail was a fairly easy trail to hike... (minus the hike down to the pool itself)and beautiful scenery all around.The turquoise and royal blue water was amazing!!! It took about 2 hrs there and back, so it was perfect for a little afternoon adventure.

Made the approximately 2 mile jaunt up to the pool in 90 degree heat. The trail is well used and pretty easy with some slight grades. Biggest drawback, if you are a hiker, were the mountain bikes, which were plentiful. Most riders were polite and careful but some were balls to the walls. The trail was also receiving quite a bit of foot use. Scenery along the trail was great, with many older cedar and Douglas fir. The water in the McKenzie river was clear and cold,and the water in the blue pool was a spectacular turquoise. It was a nice hike that took us about 1 1/2 hours round trip(but we were moving) and it was well worth the trip up to the pool

This is a 4 mile, round trip hike that ends in an amazingly deep blue pool. We were there in the late evening on an overcast day and were still stunned by how blue the water was. If you want to take a dip in the water (freezing), be prepared for a scary hike down the hillside. The best way we found was to walk around the rim of the hillside, over a dry waterfall area, up the otherside, until you get about half way around the pool. Then make your way very carefully down the steep slope to the edge of the pool. There is no day-use fee for this trail.
