Flew in to surprise my best friend for her 40th! Rented a beach house with spectacular views! We witnessed wales blowing their spouts & sea lions swimming in all from the comfort of our rental! We love the Oregon coastline & go every year. We see something new every time & it never gets old!

We stayed in Yachats for 5 days in early March 2015. Every single day we saw whales, lots of them, mothers and their babies playing off of the rocks near the end of 7th street. These were not more than a couple hundred yards off the rocks, and were there every single afternoon after the tide came in. As for scenery? Wow! Tons of tide pools to explore, great areas to walk and take in the sunset. The weather is mild, and the locals treat visitors like royalty. We will not stay in any other town along the Central Coast!

Absolutley stunning this good weather week. Deep blue water, we did wee whales and gorgeous sunsets!

If you like the pounding surf - and I mean booming, with loud 30-40 foot foam sprays at high tide, you will love the Yachats coastal walks. The beaches are very wide and flat - so flat that they will disappear entirely at high tide and be 1/4 mile wide at low tide... We found absolutely beautiful and l-a-r-g-e sand dollars intact at low tide that far exceed the size of those we have discovered on the barrier islands of South Texas. We had perfect weather while we were there - sunshine, no rain and mid to upper 60's every day - in February!Next time, I'd love to sit inside by the fire and watch a storm roll in...

This area is spectacular- scenic views around every turn on HWY 101, quiet beaches, great tide pooling, lots of wildlife! We liked the viewpoint of the Heceta Head Lighthouse from the south (1/4 mile marker to the sea lion caves)- no need to pay admission at either attraction- the views are free and there are sea lions on the rocks below, basking in the sun! Another great stop was the beach at Strawberry Hill State Park (free too) Great tide pools if you catch It at low tide and there are harbor seals hanging out on the rocks close to shore. Cape Perpetua is beautiful- watch for spouting horns and Devil's Churn if the tide is high! Nice hiking trails and benches to just sit and enjoy the views of the coast!

I have enjoyed coming to this area since I was a kid. You can collect agates along the rocky beaches north oh Yachats River or travel a few miles south to Cape Perpetua to explore tidepools and hike to the old military lookout to watch for whales. There's always a little shop to browse through and state parks to enjoy.

There's rock y beach and sandy one..7 miles of it! It's gorgeous. It's little difficult to walk on Rocky area near Yachats..so be careful.

We live in Eugene, and this is the best beaches and tide pools . I took my family here for a photography Vacation. My son is 11 and is a new amateur photographer we had. Great time, shooting the Blow holes, in front if our room, and the River mouth beach which was amazing to shoot the sunset in the tide pools, till well after dark.

I enjoyed just walking along the beach looking for sea shells. I never did find an unbroken sand dollar.

Yachats really is a gem of the Oregon coast. Great small town, awesome beaches to explore, and right next to Cape Perpetua and wonderful hiking.

Yachats is a cute little town with tourist amenities and a great view of the iconic Oregon rocky coastline. At the State Park you can walk down to the water. Weathered remnants of the logging industry are everywhere and add charm to the beaches. The sky, ocean and expanse of sand make this a great spot to stop and chill.

We come to Yachats to see the ocean & beach; we live a few miles away and it's so different. Always something different. We end up taking hundreds of pictures.

We drove from Seattle to San Francisco , through Washington & Oregon, having done the beautiful, coastal drive from LA to SF a couple of years ago. For my money, the Oregon coast has the edge for spectacular views, & well maintained roads . The roads, while still winding around the coastline , where you can appreciate the best of the coastal vista, are wider, & better surfaced that those in Southern California , making the drive that much easier .The views are truly spectacular , especially as Oregon is far less densely populated than Ca, & the beaches / forests which meet at the sea are the real star !!!!

The coastline in and around Yachats are among the best of the west coast. Friendly tourists with interesting travel dialogue are generally nearby and rewarding.

This stretch of the Oregon Coast contains the Sea Lions Caves, the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area and the Heceta Head Lighthouse.
