We have been visiting as often as twice a year for the past 3 years. I love to photograph the horses & the landscape. Last year we watched a local rodeo while there & talked to some great people. Last fall we also bought 3 wonderful fillies from the wild horse corrals. WS's is one of our favorite places to visit.

A portion of the road heading out is torn up because it's under construction so must drive slow. A great place to drive slow and enjoy the amazing dessert views including wild horses crossing the road and running around the land (great photo opp!)

After reading your review--I wonder where you come from---the outlying areas of the reservation are often as you describe them--BUT in reality the Warm Spring Confederated tribes are one of the most progressive and successful tribes in the United States..They have a very successful lumber company and given their remote state location they have done very well in their effort to send deserving students to receive advanced academic degrees. Only recently have they gotten on the Casino bandwagon and, again, given their remote location they have done very well.I suggest that you look again !!

All of the people who live here have NO self worth. They let the town, their houses, everything go to waste.Clean up a little. Its not hard to do.

I was visiting the Bend Oregon area with my husband this last Sept. and we drove through Warm Springs. We stopped by and visited the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. We saw their fantastic museum....with pictures, Indian artifacts....audio stories. It was so interesting, and something powerful that stays with you, these great peoples history !!!

The food was outstanding although few people were there. It is a mistake not to stop by and is not that far out of the way. Somehow their marketing efforts have not brought the visitors it deserves. I stop by about once every quarter

Once you get off the state highway, the Warm Springs Reservation has little to offer you, other than a spectacular landscape. You may kayak along the waterways, or cruise the well-maintained roads ... and perhaps understand why the tribes clung to this place as timber barons & their state legislature whittled down the huge land mass originally granted them. I did not visit the fish hatchery, but I can recommend a stop at the Three Warriors Market: you are near the home of recording artist Quiltman and they make his music available. Stay out of the caves: they are often sacred sites. Enjoy whom you meet in this land. Call the tribal office for powwow dates.

From their website: "The Museum's permanent collection of treasured artifacts, historic photographs, murals, graphics, and rare documents is a dynamic, comprehensive chronicle of Tribal history. Interactive, multimedia exhibits that include a Wasco wedding, song chamber, and traditional Hoop Dance offer guests a living experience of life on the Reservation."The museum was clean and well organized, easy to follow. Several of the interactive displays did not work ("press here" and nothing happened). Overall, however, I did not come away with a feeling of the terrible injustice done to these people; yes, it is covered, but in an almost sterile, detached way. Their religion/spirituality is not even mentioned, which I was particularly disappointed about. I was glad to have visited, but did not feel the experience was as complete as it could and should have been.
