If playing mesquite golf, worth the detour on your way up to mesquite or back to Vegas to play coyote springs. Really nice layout, and u truly escape civilization as there is nothing around for miles. Condition was better than expected, greens a bit threadbare and very fast (around 11.5 if I had to guess). Unfortunately, the greens r very classic Nicklaus, with not a flat spot to be found, pretty unfair especially considering how fast they were. But some very nice/unique holes, plenty of water to punish the mis-hit, and a lot of fun to play. Definitely worth visiting.
Pro's: I have played 6 of the Robert Trent Jones centers in Alabama and several PGA caliber courses in California, New Mexico and other places around the country. Without doubt, this place has the absolute, hands down BEST driving range and practice facilities I have ever seen. Also, the condition and layout of the course, including all the bunkers and the water that comes into play is visually stunning. It is simply impossible to overstate how gorgeous this course is and how well it is maintained out in the middle of the desert. The staff is also very helpful and friendly.Cons: Only one really but it is the single reason why I won't be coming back even though I only live 90 miles away. I have played it four times and make note of the fact that I am an 8.1 handicap. The greens.....the greens....the greens. Jack Nicklaus was quoted many times as saying that you should always fire at the middle of the green so as to take nothing more than a two putt. Well Jack, you do that at this course of yours and you will be nearly GUARANTEED to three putt virtually every single green. There is no such thing as a flat lie anywhere on any green on this course. Now that being said, I will add that if you are a low single digit AND you can play this course on a regular basis, you will undoubtedly learn where to put your approach shots. Unfortunately, given the location of the course and cost of a normal round, playing here on even a semi-regular basis is out of the question. Summation: If you want to occasionally play an absolutely visually stunning golf course that is EXCEPTIONALLY FUN TO PLAY FROM TEE TO GREEN and don't care much how you score, by all means come here. Just be forewarned that once you're on the green, all bets are off.PS: I would also like to add that this place just SCREAMS for at least some kind of snack bar if not a full blown restaurant. Because the range and hole #1 are right at a mile from the club house, newer, faster electric carts with GPS on them would also be a cinch addition I would make if it were up to me.
We played this course on a little guys trip to the Mesquite area on 1-3-15. It was a beautiful layout. The course was in great shape, and the scenery was great. We had the 11:40 tee time, and the course wasn't very busy (maybe 15-20 cars in the parking lot). It was a 5+ hour round. There was a single in front of us (who plays a course like this as a single anyways?), and we waited on every single shot we hit. There was not a marshall in sight. Starting at 11:40 AM, we finished before dark by the skin of our teeth. The course itself was quite fun. Greens were a little hokey, and the bunkerage a little excessive, but fun to play a course like this. Practice facility was very nice (besides driving 20 minutes by cart to get there). Just don't expect a 4 hour walk in the park on this course.
This area sings and shouts to me!I must have said, "Wow" at every hole...several times (spectacular views in every direction!)I personally enjoy Jack's courses...Dove Canyon in Ca. and now Coyote Springs are amoung my favorites. You will discover -an amazing- range here, well maintained fairways and greens, and risk/reward challenges on almost every hole. While in the area, don't overlook Mesquite's Falcon Ridge" and "The Palmer"You will be totally smitten by the area, weather and golf here...
Played in Sept of 2014 Lucky to have NO wind at all great course challenging but fair. not much of a club house but I'm guessing thats due to the down turn a few years back Staff was helpful played mid week and I think there was more staff than golfers Well worth the trip but be forewarned , if the wind blows it will be tough
This course seems to be in the middle of nowhere but wow is it worth the trip. I was with 20 guys playing 8 courses in the Mesquite/St George area and this one was spectacular. The scenery is typical desert but the course itself was amazing starting with their practice facility to the perfect fairways and fast but true greens. Play this one!
love it! Greens in great shape; fairways very nice; best course we played this week as far as maintained and playability. Fun course; staff was very friendly and upbeat. The greens have a lot of character. Will definitely play again
I played this course on oct 20th 2014 and I also played bali hai and wolf creek. I have played a few others in Vegas as well and i will rate this course as a must play. The greens are very good and the fairways are the best I have played ever in the area. I will say if you do not play here you are missing out very friendly fairways and lots of great holes.
This course has generous fairways and fascinating greens. It is the first of several planned golf course in the area. The staff was helpful and generous with water, You'll need water and lots of it if you are going to stay hydrated.
If you were to fly over Coyote Springs GC you would scratch your head and say what the heck were they thinking when building a golf course at least 25 miles in every direction from the nearest building or town. Unfortunately, that was not the plan but government red tape has greatly delayed any residential development in the area and I fear that unless this issue is resolved one of the most beautiful golf courses in Nevada will simply turn into the golf version of a ghost town. This magnificent course is lush with palm trees, rolling fairways, water features, typical Nicklaus designed tricky greens and features scenic vistas every direction you look. The practice facility is top notch and the staff was extremely friendly on my September 17, 2014 visit. Complimentary bottled water was available on the course at several locations during the round, a definite requirement on 100-degree plus days. The course has several tee decks and will challenge the skills of plays of all levels. If you get to Las Vegas and don't mind the one hour drive up I-15 and Hwy 93 you must come and play Coyote Springs. At about $75 for non-Nevada residents it's well worth the money. The clubhouse facilities are not up to much but are intended only to be temporary until a planned clubhouse is built. Let's just hope all the red tape issues can be resolved and this gem of a golf course can survive for many years to come.
What an amazing place - situated in the middle of nowhere! Desert surrounding this golf course as far as the eye can see and not one house in sight! It was 50 minute easy drive to the course from the Las Vegas Strip and well worth the effort. How Jack Nicklaus had the vision to build this gem in the desert is beyond me! Beautifully manicured and superbly maintained - every hole is an absolute treat. The greens are tricky and very well protected. Would love to play here again. A whole community was planned here but nothing has been built yet - will the golf club survive? I do hope so!
I've played at this gem in the middle of nowhere five or six times and it is always in beautiful shape. There is no doubt in my mind that it is one of the top courses in the state. It is challenging from tee to green, with putting being especially tough. The staff is always friendly. On my last visit Carl was in the pro shop and was very accommodating. And his son was working the carts! The thing I really love is that it is so quiet and peaceful out there. There are no houses, no noise, no bad smells. It's a great golf experience.
Drove all the way out to this spot in the extreme heat 1.25 hour drive only to get there and be told they were closing at 6pm and needed all there carts back by thenwe said fine will just play 9 holes what is your rateThey said same as 18 $75We said fine see you later then, walked out they lost $245.00 possible earningsthis place is out in the middle on now where, never going back either with the bad attitude.
This course was in the best shape out of Pauite Wolf and Primm Lakes we played. From tee to green it was outstanding. The layout is typical Nicklaus with many risk/reward shots and memorable holes. My only frustration was the difficult and undulating greens made 3-putts common. Great customer service and the cart-girl came around 4-5 times during our round. I highly recommend this course if great golf is your thing.
This past weekend our group from Canada descended upon the Las Vegas - Mesquite - St. George area for our annual golf trip. Coyote Springs was our 4th of 5 scheduled rounds. As soon as we drove into the parking lot (first cars in the lot), we were greeted very rudely by the fellow moving the carts out of the cart shed. As we approached the "club house" which is a bunch of temporary trailers, we were then rudely greeted by the fellow running the front desk. We simply asked him if there was any chance to move up our tee time (forgot about the hour time change between St. George and Coyote Springs), and I was basically cut off from even asking my question with a "we're jammed today" response, delivered in an unbelievably cocky manner. Knowing that we'd be sitting around for over an hour, we asked if we could get coffee, which was then answered with a "no coffee - state law" response. We laughed a little and asked again. Same response, delivered with the same attitude. Know he was starting to tick us off a bit. As we didn't understand what the "state law about coffee was", we asked him to explain, in which he indicated that there was some state law that they couldn't sell coffee if it wasn't in a sealed container. Does this mean they don't have a food and beverage licence? He pointed at some snacks that we could buy, which was basically some granola bars and chocolate bars that they most likely bought at Costco and were re-selling. As we walked to the food station, we passed the office of the Pro and in there was a giant coffee maker. Hmmm...perhaps they could fork out the $0.50/cup and just GIVE the coffee to the people golfing, which I'm sure would skirt the "state law". In any event, by this time, our group was so livid at the attitude displayed by the two employees, we didn't even want to golf anymore. We were supposed to golf at Cascata this next morning, but one phone call to them and they bent over backwards to change the tee time from Sunday to Saturday. We walked from our tee time at Coyote and I will tell everyone I know about how horrible the customer service is at this place. We booked this course based on the fact that Jack's name was attached to it. Based on this experience, I will now question what kind of quality the courses are that have his name attached. I would avoid this course if possible. If they want to try to salvage this flop of a development, the first change would be with the staff.
