We have heard for years how inspirational masses are at this church. You are immediately welcomed by others, and the music moves your soul. God is good.
Although it is in a run down part of town this has to be one of Omaha"s most special churches. Father Tom is always quick with a smile and more than welcoming to strangers.
Moved here 12 years ago and hunted for a church community. My daughter and I spent three months looking for a parish that we can feel connected to. Came across Sacred Heart in North Omaha and within 15 minutes we know it was home. It had my teenagers seal of approval. Great vibrant faith community. 8:30 is more traditional than the 10:30 Mass. We are blessed to have Father Tom Fangman as our Pastor. This parish has a strong emphasis on social justice.
A Catholic Mass like you have never experienced it. Come praise the Lord and prepare to be impressed by the friendliness and diversity of the people. The music is impressive and all ages get into the swing and beauty of it. Parishioners are from all over the metro area and visitors are VERY welcome. Come be BLESSED.
This is a Catholic church in the heart of a poorer area of Omaha, but it has incredible spirit. The faith-filled congregation and the very charismatic pastor make this a special place to worship and to take in the wonderful music and the hospitality of the members of the parish. It is definitely worth a visit for Sunday mass.
Hold on to your hat when you attend the 10:30 a.m. Sunday mass at Sacred Heart. This is a true celebratory experience. The 100 year plus church was recently renovated. Its interior and exterior show the beauty and dedication of the congregation when the church was built. However, the spirit and devotion of today's parish is reflected in the extra special celebration of this mass. The Sacred Heart Freedom Choir, directed by Jim Boggess, has performed all over the metro Omaha area as well as internationally. The choir is a treasure but the love of the members of the congregation are reflected in the beautiful mass. Come early as Sundays are often standing room only. You will be glad you did.The choir's last CD is available for purchase after mass, proceeds go to the works of the church.
What a welcoming, non-traditional church. The music is lively, the pastor is down-to-earth, and generally you just feel good here. No matter what your spiritual path is, this place is worth a visit. Sunday Service is at 10:30 and usually ends slightly after noon. The time will fly right by!
