What a great company and a great ride! I looked at a number of options, but Los Padres Outfitters just felt right.....and it was! My husband and I took a 2 hour private ride with Graham, the owner. The horses were sweet, gentle and easy to ride. We met our wrangler at the trailhead and he had the horses all ready to go. The trail was a wonderful mix - we wove through the wooded hillside, saw some amazing views of the ocean and then enjoyed a cool ride along the beach. Graham's dog Cruise - a delightful little Jack Russell mix - enjoyed running and sniffing alongside as well! We also learned a lot about the Santa Barbara area during the ride. Los Padres Outfitters does private rides only - trail rides like we did, but also overnight pack trips (one of those will be on our list for next visit to the area). They may not be the cheapest company, but the little extra is worth every penny - you get what you pay for - it was high end and we were actually out closer to 2 1/2 hours. If you are looking for a nice, personalized, non-touristy feeling ride to add to your Santa Barbara exploration, this is the company to use!

I looked at several places for a horseback ride near Santa Barbara. So glad I chose this one. It was a trip to celebrate my daughter and her accomplishments. She used to have horses and has really missed riding. Their horses were great. They were obedient and didn't lack for personality. Our guide, Mike, was a great guide. He was very accommodating and knowledgeable. We took a two hour ride with one hour on the trail and one hour on the beach. The view from the mountain was breath taking. It was a beautiful ride through and through. I can't understand why there are not more reviews posted. You won't be disappointed if you go with Los Padres Outfitters but you might be a little sore if you haven't ridden in a while. :)

My daughter and I had an amazing time. We scheduled a beach ride with this company unsure of what we would experience. It was fantastic! We were met with horses ready to go. We rode down to the beach near Summerland, walked and galloped on the beach, rode up into the city and around Montecito, and then back to our meeting point. Luckily we were taken on the tour by the owner of the company. We spend 2 1/2 hours (our booking was for 2) and had a great time. The company does mostly private rides, which means it's just you and your group with them.I would highly, highly recommend Los Padres Outfitters if you have the desire to go for a mountain ride or enjoy a gallop along the beach. The horses are well trained, safe enough for my 12 year old daughter, and in cared for condition. You will not go wrong!!
