I live across the street. I walk here regularily. I do not drive here as it is $6 a day to park. (seems outrageous to the residents of Crestline) However, there is PLENTY of open space! a walking trail that wraps around the outlying shores. In summer; they have "splash island" and a waterslide, and pinic areas. Plus a "zero-depth" pool for toddlers. Lots and lots of fishing. It's a very wholwsome outing to come here, and enjoy quiet nature.
Easy to walk around feed the ducks and we found a big turtle sunbathing. There are giant cut down trees creating a bridge over a stream. Great fresh air for kids and dogs too. Lake I have not been in by boat but looks fun.
Somehow not noticed the $6 parking fee. When I came back my car was towed and cost me $310.00 to get it back. I agree it was my mistake but I want to let you know that that's not how you treat your customers. Why not write a $50 parking ticket? I will never visit the place again. Just be advised.
For just a few bucks i was able to float around on this beautiful mountain lake feeling like i was in Colorado, but i was only minutes away from home. Very peaceful.
We have been coming to Crestline for several years and love Lake Gregory. We always hike around which is invigorating. We've also come here for Easter when there was breakfast with the Easter bunny, a duck derby and egg hunt. The kids loved it! On one end of the lake there are baseball fields where my family, friends and I played. It was perfect for staying active! I've also taken my Girl Scout troop here several times and they all loved it. In the summer it's fun to lounge and take a dip. Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear are not too far. Those places are great, but if you want a true mountain escape without the crowds, come to Crestline. A little tip, if you are looking for accomodations, I highly recommend Crest Lodge. It is the best in this little town!
I fly fished at Lake Gregory for the first time in early December. I was fortunate to have caught a "tagged" fish at this beautiful and scenic lake. The tagged fish was authenticated by the lake manager and I received a check for the designated award amount. This is a great lake to visit, enjoy and fish at. I will definitely return to do more fly fishing.
we love to kayak and this is a great size lake to bring our kayaks for the day. Our kids kayak with us and have enjoyed lake gregory for many years. Our grandkids had a great time on the new inflatables over the summer.
It was my first visit with a friend and her two kids ages 7 and 9. We knew that we were going to have to pay $6 to park AND pay $6-$7/person to get in, but we had no idea that we would have to pay extra per person to partake in any of the other activities offered. We didn't want to upset the kids, so we paid the extra fees for them to play in the water area. The teller at the main entrance was nice, but didn't really give us any direction as to where to go or what to do once we got in. We had to walk a ways through the dirt to get to the beach where the kids went over to get life jackets. They were told they were going to have to wait 15 min. because they were out. Another surprise that would have been helpful before we spent a bunch of money. The beach wasn't even busy that day. I could only imagine how long the wait would be in July. Apparently they allow the guests that paid for the play area to be out there for about 20 min and then are called back out to return life jackets for those waiting in line and then the new set get to play for 20 min. My friend and I wanted to be able to watch the kids while they were out in the water, but the tent that housed the life jackets was placed right along the beach preventing us from doing so. The kids had an ok time which is all that matters, but I dont think we will be going back.
This regional park is often passed over for the more well known and glamorous Lake Arrowhead and it's pricey village. Here there is definitely a more laid-back, small town feel. Stop by the Stockade for taco Tuesday or their weekend BBQ fare. During the summer the kids can enjoy the water slide, fishing, and lake rentals. In the winter bald eagles can be spotted if you're lucky. There are lots of hikes available close by, and the fitness trail around the lake is a beautiful option.
This is a great area to hang out, picnic, walk, fish, run, hike, etc.. There are ducks, and other wildlife to view.. They stock the lake with trout.. Mud hens, mallards and other waterfowl are in the lake. Don't feed the wildlife.
Very nice place for our daily hour walk. I noticed the altitude this time. You are about five thousand ft.Very nice park and not too crowded this time of year.
