Not a choice location, however the awesome staff and the clean campground keep us coming back. Year after Year. We started camping there when it was $ 7.00 a night for camping. Walk in mind you. We didn't care. You couldn't beat it for the price. Here in So. Cali anyway. Now it is $ 25 to 30 a night for walk in camping. With the economy such as it is. We may as well go to a hotel, for a few extra bucks. There is no running water there' ie" fishing, lazy river" swimming. No attractions, other than rattlesnakes and mountain lions. yet they are charging more than anywhere else. I dunno..... We love it here. Until something changes 'Rates". Don't know that we will be going back soon. I'ts a shame. Miss you Carol. Lol the Lillas
This lake is hard to fish, and when the seniors complained about the lack of catches, the clerks checking you in became rude. I called and talked to a female supervisor, and asked when the fish was dumped and if someone could monitor the drop and poundage and was told "no". I wrote the San Bernardino Parks and Recreation Department several months ago, and haven't received a response. Also, the parking rates are high here.
The Mojave River regional park is a nice area that provides you with more trees and shrubbery than most desert camping sites, and is located on the way up to Silverwood Lake and the San Bernardino Mountains. Nice sites, plenty of shade, and centrally located to go into town if needed. A nice get-a-way if you don't want to drive too far from home but still feel like you are out in the open.
Lots of space, quiet, nice scenery. I'd rather stay here than Silverwood. Nice rangers and no one bothers you. Clean bathrooms, hook-ups.
It is the cleanest campground ever! It even has showers! Beautiful view of the Mountains, close to Silverwood Lake, Hesperia Lakes, several hiking trails near by. Big night skies... quiet! I loved it!
