The water at the lake is cold and wet! THe trees are too tall. I don't like the bald eagles flying over and scaring away my fish. The blue sky is to bright and the Staff are too friendly. Stay away. I will suffer for you. If you come to the lake, don't wake me. I am the guy sitting in the chair asleep by the shore. It is nice and quiet...go away.Love the lake but don't tell anyone!!!

My husband and I go fishing often here in spring and fall, mostly for striped bass, but large mouth and trout too. Last spring we each caught a bass at the same time. One of them was just barely {about 1/4 inch} undersize so my husband tossed it back....or so he thought. He tossed back the wrong one. The game warden meticulously measured all our fish and wrote us a ticket for $490, and acted like he was letting us off easy. They're just waiting to give you a ticket, so are all the cops in Hesperia. Our Firebird was fined recently while parked in a parking lot in Hesperia for no front license plate {it's been that way for 23 years} and our pickup for parking on the dirt at Bakers.

I went recently to Silverwood lake and what a pleasant experience it was. Peaceful is one way to decribe it as my daughter and I cast out our lines and sat back and relaxed as we waited for a nibble on the line. I always come here and will continue to come here.

Our family, our children live down in Southern CA and we are in the North so vacationing and just getting together is a challenge. We loved our weekend at Silverwood Lake. The campground was very nice and we brought our canoe and they were great no hassle at all as far as inspections. These sites when looking at the map to make the reservations. Are however not on the lake at all they are above the lake. The rec area for swimming for the day is very nice. The grandchildren liked it a lot. They have covered picnic areas and a nice store and marina. This was a very affordable way to all get together.

Maybe Miss Suzie O didn't see any rattlesnakes but there are plenty in the desert. How many people are bitten by snakes every day? How many people are killed every day on the wonderful freeways of Southern California that you use to get to the scary snakes in the desert? If you've never seen the High Desert, visit it, take some pictures, then go somewhere interesting. The only thing worse than the wind there, is the heat when you have no wind. Dry,dusty, hot, windy, no trees, freezing in the winter, it's a wonderful place to vacation.

A group of 62 peoples stayed in the Rio Barranca Group. The second day we had a visitor....a rattlesnake. We called the park ranger and she said they have had a few. They are after the squirrel eggs and rodents. We stayed 6 days and saw 4 of them. They didn't strike. I was told that probably because the snakes are use to people...they leave you alone and you leave them alone. All in all we had a great time. We were very careful NOT to go in bushes of leave tents open. Always stayed on the path.

Great getaway place/daycation from the city (lol). Went with family and friends on several occasions, and so far no problems (there is no rattlesnakes as one person said, thanks for scaring people). Just make sure to come real early, they open at 8 or 9, you want to have the best spot if your BBQing.

Silverwood lake lies at the base of the San Bernardino mountains. I"ts a farely small lake, as they were unable to fill the lake to I"ts full capasity. It is only 1/3 rd the size, the engineers planned it to be.It has a lot to offer for a lake it's size. It is stocked well year round. Anyone with a watercraft can launch from there docks. The price is included with admission. Whether you are boating for an afternoon, .or you chose to stay the night. I highly. recommend camping here. They have exclusive campsites to accomadate a vehicle, boat etc.. You don"t have to leave your vessel unattended. Lot"s of shade trees, walking paths , bike paths pets are welcome. They even have campsites for cross country cyclers. If they are full they have an overflow campground a short distance away. Awesome campground. Love it. Mojave river forks. Kathy the gal who runs the campground is an awesome lady. She single handidly, keeps the campground up and running. Stop by and check it out. Tell her I sent u. C u there !!!

Excellent location , small scale lake. Great fishing. Water skiing beach and picnic area. Camping , with campsites that have space at your site, for your boat. Lot"s of sites to choose from. I suggest booking online. Get there early when you arrive. Weekends and holiday"s are usually filled quickly. Bring coins for showers. They have wood you can buy from the campground host. Just off the 15 frwy Exit Silverwood and follow signs. Aprx 15 minutes.

I've gone to Silverwood so many times at various ages in my life and loved every one of the trips. As a young teen I camped there. The sites were clean, shady, private and larger than many I've been to. The biking trails are for almost every level of biker there is. However the bathroom facilities did seem lacking. Later as a mom I felt comfortable taking my young children there for frolicking on the beach. I was baptised in that very lake when my church as a large group visited Silverwood. We all felt accomodated nicely with the large group areas. Finally we've visited lately for boating or jet skiing and had a blast. The beach is such that you can float right up to shore on watercraft. There are also many secluded areas to boat to and dock. They have a tiny store that seemed to have everything as well as a snack shack with decent tasting and reasonably priced food. Its a family place for boating, fishing, camping and even playing in the water close to home for LA area and San Bernardino residents. However two cautions must be mentioned; the main road off the fwy is very windy and they get full very quickly. I recommend this place to all without hesitation.
