historic courthouse museum

A cool old building with a lot of interesting info about the Lake itself, the Native Americans who lived there, and some of the colorful folks that were a part of the county's history, like Black Bart. Worth tr small fee ($3?) if you are curious about Lake County history.

Located directly in the musks of town, you can't miss this cute little stop. Surrounded by a beautiful yard and a hit dog cat located conveniently in front, you will be surprised by the quality, not necessarily the quantity of cool artifacts inside. The are many examples of local Indian tribes' artwork, baskets, and arrowheads. The employees are always friendly and very knowledgeable as they speak affectionately about the displays :)

This is a nicely put together museum. Its donation only. Very interesting. There are a lot of interesting native American displays, and other local history.

This is a great Museum. I love the building. It has all the art deco floors and walls. It is a good example of the early 1900s. It sits very prominently on a hill overlooking downtown. Well worth touring.

More need to take a moment and explore this fabulous place in the heart of down town Lakeport.....minutes from the lake and fabulous restaurants....

This museum retains most of its history. An actual courtroom and a small theatre are just as they were in 19th century.

Small, historic museum in downtown Lakeport. It was the courthouse at one time. Native American artifacts and tule boat, old pictures of the lake and inhabitants, friendly and knowledgeable docents. I recommend giving this place a visit.

In downtown Lakeport on Main street you will find the old court house of Lake county. It is now a museum and genealogical research center. It gives you a good idea of the very interesting history of Lake County. It is also used as a meeting place where from time to time they have interesting cultural events. Check there calendar. The setting is also nice. Behind it is the new Court house and a block away it the the and Library park. If you are there in the summer at the park they have a free concert every Friday.
