Earthquake in Napa changed our plan for wine tasting, and we ended up in Santa Cruz Mt. Savannah Ch was nice, but we were looking for higher quality wine. Next, we stopped by David Bruce. I had been in this winery 5-6 years ago, I remembered they made decent Syrah, pt Syrah and zin. I was surprised with the tasting menu, they were offering 3 Pinot and a Sangiovese. They poured us a 06 Pinot which was not on the menu.....it was horrible. The wine had turned and should not be sold as wine any more. We talked to the host and told her what kind of wine we were looking for. She had no idea or knowledge about wine and some of her response was too uneducated. She had memorized a few lines about how a good/great Pinot should be, but David Bruce Pinot was not close to be an average Pinot. It was like buying wine from a vending machine. Then, there was more watered down, no character wines one after the other one. The host asked my opinion about the wine, and I gave her my honest opinion, and I was very polite and quiet so others don't hear my comment. We asked her if we could taste their Syrah or Zin, but she said, "you can by a bottle and try it at home!!!" After that, she completely ignored us and refused to finish the rest of the pouring. We go wine tasting all the time, and mostly enjoy the experience. I understand not all wineries are making high quality wine, but being rude, uneducated, and unwilling to meet the customers needs is not acceptable; after all, this is luxury/hospitality business. We'll Never go back or recommend this place to anyone.

We loved the Pino at David Bruce! So much so we shipped a case home. The wines are good and are available on the Internet at discount prices. The winery is beautiful, the staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. It was a real treat to taste here, one of our favorite tasting rooms.

Our visit to David Bruce was so enjoyable! We had not intended on spending long in the area that day, but we pulled into David Bruce on our way home. We ended up with a 6 pack of Pinot Noir as well as a 6 pack of Chardonnay, both of which we thought were excellent and not overly expensive.David came out to chat with us and share his experiences. That was quite a treat!

I would agree wtih travelinggal2012. I wish they had tasting areas outside and/or the tasting room was a bit more fun. David Bruce is tucked in the Santa Cruz Mountains, and has great Pinot Noirs. The staff is friendly and oftentimes you'll see David Bruce himself in the tasting room.

Went to David Bruce Winery after visiting Byington and thought the building and landscaping were great. The tasting room is boring and cold, wish it had outside views and/or some rugs to give it a warmer feeling. Making up for the surroundings were the pouring staff. They were engaging and knowledgable and gave us pours from bottles not on our flight even. We did enjoy a 2007 Pinot Noir enough to buy a case. The staff made this visit a good one.

First visit to David Bruce - friendly staff and the Chard. & Pinot Noirs were excellent. They were having great deals on cases of wine.

David Bruce Winery is located at the top of the Santa Cruz Mountains, where you can enjoy spectacular views even if you're not a wine drinker. The property and facilities are quite special and I'm sure they host plenty of beautiful weddings there. You can taste wine, too, of course.

We have enjoyed visiting wineries in Europe, California, The Finger Lakes, and several other areas. David Bruce is probably the best one we have ever visited. Complimentary pours, wonderful, not snobbish staff, and if you are lucky (and we were!!) Dr. Bruce himself will come out and chat with you! All that, plus some really lovely wine and great discounts!!

This is an excellent place if you love pinots. Not only are they fun and interesting, the customer service is outstanding. Highly recommended. Be careful on the way there- the driveway comes up on you fast if you're not paying attention. Also, stop and taste at Byington since it's just down the street.
