This was an easy walk from the parking lot to a sandy beach with some awesome cliffs. many trails branched off the road to get you into the hills and some great views. Lots of birds and wildflowers. We saw a deer grazing in the hills.

This is a fun walk for the parking lot all the way to the sea. Easy hills with slow ascents and descents. In the spring you will enjoy many wild colors

This is a Gorgeous Hike. Not too hard but leads to a beautiful hidden beach with great views. I can't wait to go back.

Nice trip out to the famous Tennessee Valley cove on the Pacific. Watch for wild flowers and bobcats sunning themselves.

Fantastic hike for the whole family to the ocean! Can be hard to park by noon on weekends. Great to pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the crashing waves on the beach while eating! Lots of room once you are on the trail and the beach...just limited in parking spots.

This is what folks come to N California for...the unique terrain, beach, cliffs, sand, mountains, ocean...all right next to each other...all within easy driving from SF.

Parking can be a bit difficult but the path to ocean is scenic and beautiful. There are a lot of hiking options, both short and long. If one feels ambitious, she can hike over to Stinson Beach. The variety of trails makes this a wonderful choice.

Even children like this hike. Pack a picnic to eat at the beach. Even if it's foggy the hike is lovely.

If you are looking for an easy, hour or so hike with chance to see varied wildlife and wade at the beach, this is for you.About 3.5 miles out and back on a nearly flat and wide path (can go one way on the lower trail to see more wildlife). If you want to add some spice, climb up the cliff next to beach for a nice view.

Beautiful views whether you take the high trail or just hike down to the beautiful beach. Many options for the casual walker or serious hiker and options for short or long and more rigorous hikes. Always head over to this trailhead when visiting in Marin County.

So, I wasnt as blown away as everyone else was. The hike was pretty, and the beach was neat, but I won't return.

The kids loved the trail the ends at the beach. I prefer the coastal hike that follows the ridge and takes your breath away with the views. Bring water!

Having lived in Marin County for most of my life, Tennessee Valley is one of my go-to places to enjoy either a walk to the beach or a bicycle ride to the beach or onto the Coast Trail. The trails provide immense variety and beauty and the flowers right now add even more color to the already spectacular landscape. And you have a great chance at seeing wildlife. Deer are a given, hawks are up above, and in the evenings you are likely to see and certainly hear great horned owls. The beach itself is dramatic and beautiful, although I would classify it as more of a strolling along the edge of the surf type beach than a swimming beach. Take the two mile walk all the way to the beach and you will be very happy and feel rewarded and renewed.

A lovely spot at the start of a gradual hike to the ocean, thru pastures and meadows. Gentle grade and lovely views

Tennessee Valley Trail head is an easy hike (more of a walk, really) that leads to a beautiful cove. I've been here several times- it's close to San Francisco and has that great rugged, rocky coastline that I think of when I think "North Coast." It's a quiet, relaxing place- not too crowded usually since it's a hike-in beach. Great spot for a picnic, fun for young kids- plenty of beach wood and rocks to build things out of. No swimming- way too dangerous (go to Stinson for that or go south to Pacifica), kinda cold for that anyhow. No dogs. I was miffed about the no-dogs situation at first (I love taking my dog to the beach), but it really makes sense- the beach is too small for a bunch of dogs, plus there's an abundance of wildlife there that would be irresistible to a dog: there's a marsh filled with coastal birds just inland from the beach, and we saw a baby sea lion on the beach there once (not sure how often that happens, but I was glad there were no dogs there to harass the poor thing). Bathrooms are at the trail head- bring water. Dress in layers- it can be cold one minute and pretty hot the next. Definitely worth the easy hike in! Check it out.
