I have been to numerous minor league baseball games at John Thurman field over the years. I have seen many future MLB players come through here. Currently this is the home of the Modesto Nuts the single A farm team for the Colorado Rockies. All Friday and Saturday night games are followed by a great fireworks show. The best seats in the house are only around $12 so it's not a real expensive night out. It's minor league baseball so there is all kinds of stuff going on in between innings during the games. I can't wait until spring 2015 and the start of the new season.

We have been to quite a few games at John Thurman. The games are always fun to watch and really try to do a lot to engage the crowd and make it entertaining. Last time we went the fly balls really caused trouble though, knocking some of the lights out and worse, by far, very seriously injuring a fan that they had to carry away on a stretcher. It wasn't the first time we experienced something similar to that at a game, but this last time made us question going back until improvements are made to better protect the fans. Saying that, if you like good ball game and don't mind the terrifying prospect that a 80 mph ball might hit you in the mouth then you would love John Thurman Field!

The baseball field is fun and great for family. They have a small playground for children as well as several games for kids to play. The times we have been there have been giveaways too. Keeps kids of all ages entertained.

Great place for family and fun at reasonable prices. Good baseball, food is good, try sitting in behind home plate where they serve you on food orders.

Great Seating and not very expensive tickets. You should go if you haven't visited there before. The Nuts always put on a good game.

Inexpensive fun. Easy off/on freeway location. Awesome stadium and not a bad seat in the house. Good food, cold beer and guarnteed smiles with "Mike on the mic. " My family and I enjoy several games each season. Bonus if you get to see the firework show!! Highly recommended.

this really is a great place to relax and see a ball game complete with cheering fans. the price is always good, parking close, good bathrooms. the seats are ball park seats..bring a cushion if needed and a blanket or jacket if you think it could get chilly. the food is diverse and really delicious..much better than than expected..like a good little diner. you will come away feeling good and may even catch a T-shirt.

After living in the area for about 20 years I've just discovered the Modesto Nuts (single A) baseball team. Our family attended five games in 2012. The stadium holds about 4,000 fans. It can be very hot at the start of the game, but it usually cools down nicely as the game progresses. Choices of seating include "bleacher seating" where you can sit wherever you want to much more comfortable reserved seats which are also much closer to the field. The most expensive seats are $12 and I think bleachers (general admission) seating is $6, but I'm not sure of that. Parking is $5. Sitting next to the Nuts’ dugout is $11. The stadium is always clean and there are lots of team staff members wandering throughout the stadium making sure everything goes well. They even have a few folks that are certified to take care of injuries from foul balls and broken bats. (We discovered this when a line drive barely missed everyone in our section and two medics appeared within seconds to make sure we were all okay!) We usually have dinner in the stadium before the game. The menu is surprisingly varied, from enormous corn dogs to hamburgers, chicken, etc. It's a little on the expensive side. A cheeseburger, fries, a drink -and a pickle!- costs $10. They have bounce houses and other things to keep the kids busy, too. In fact, during the summer months, I was surprised at how many families with little kids attend. Unfortunately, the season lasts beyond summer vacation and the last game we attended was almost completely devoid of little kids and their families. The games are generally over sometime in the ten o’clock hour, so it's hard for families to attend on a school night. A night at John Thurman Field is an enjoyable experience. It generally costs my wife and me about $45 to attend, including having dinner at the park. Compare that to going to a Giants or A's game! Go Nuts!!!

A beautiful area of town, though we did get a bit lost trying to get there. The experience of being at a ball game where you could actually see the faces was great!

We have only been to the field 2 times and if you like baseball, this is a great venue...easy to locate and get to, baseball food and a good game....what else can you say about the 'boys of summer'

Nuts baseball is a great value. There is not a bad seat in the house, the tickets are cheap, the quality of play is good, and so too is the food. If you like baseball-or even if you are not a big fan-John Thurman Field is a great place to enjoy a summer evening.

It is a great way to spend an evening with the kids. My girls are not much into baseball. We attend once a year because the nuts host a free game ticket for accomplishing a reading goal the teacher sets for the classroom. The kids get to go on the field, meet the players, and get a hotdog and soda. I very much appreciate that the Nuts team does this for the kids. I prefer to upgrade my tickets from the free ones to seats along the first base line. The prices are very reasonable for the family. Even without the free ticket. The food and drink can be pricey, but not out of the ballpark. Have fun and enjoy a great ball game.
