Rubino Estates is a larger winery in Pleasanton. Its a pleasant winery with a nice wine tasting room. There is also a deli so its great to go buy some deli goods and have an impromptu picnic. We have enjoyed their wine and deli goods on their outdoor picnic tables. There is also bocci ball. There are beautiful grape fields by this large winery. This winery is also an event center and as such lots of parking. The name of the event center is called Palm Event Center at Historic Ruby Hill. The drive up to the winery is beautiful with its palm tree lined driveway and fountain area in front of the winery.
Oh lord these wines are good! Beautiful winery and very yummy snacks type foods to purchase with your tasting...lovely Chardonnay and I usually don't like the oakiness of Chardonnay. Thanks Amy!
I spend much time in the wine countrie(S) of California and because the Livermore Valley is so close to home, I'm there ALOT. This lovely, palm lined drive within the Palm Event Center locale in Livermore also leads up to the new Rubino Estates (nee Mitchell Katz winery). I am delighted to learn that they own this property as opposed to leasing it (loooonnngg story...MK leased) They have completely redone the interior and lightened it up nicely so that it is inviting, warm, and well appointed in each and every direction you look. Just a delight and much like their "sister" winery down the road, Ruby Hills. Kingdon is a great server and did a very good job of describing the wines...Very pleasant fellow! All their wines are good in my opinion AND MOST IMPORTANT? REASONABLY PRICED. Yes. That does matter to some of us! (afterall, like food, it's a consumable!) My favorite reds have been Dolcetto and Sangiovese and in recent years, Barbera. The "claim to fame" of the Barbera's in the valley has been Rios-Lovell's. I honestly didn't think anything could compare...But I tried their Barbera and was surprised! I think these two are now "neck n neck" for a quality Barbera (-though the cost of RL is considerably less) All in all it was a lovely tasting and I most certainly wouldn't miss this winery if you're out and about in the Livermore Valley or even visiting from afar. Very pleasant experience all the way around. BTW, there is ample parking, beautiful views and a super new Bocceball court. Definitely wheelchair accessible (-some would say stroller-friendly? -But some of us don't feel wineries are for babies)
My sister and I were visiting my nephew who lives can Pleasanton. A last minute thought we just popped in and it was awesome. We were welcomed like we were family! Very friendly, nice conversation and Debi and King were like old friends. Definitely try the reserva tasting!! The Dolcetto is my fav. Bought some!
