We had a little time to spare so we went to the little Pleasanton museum. Very delightful! Lots of material in the little house, but interesting. It won't take you very long to go through all it. But I think we'll worth it as it gave me a great overview of the origins of this town.
A small museum, it only takes an hour to see. This is for local history buffs. Lots of fun stories about people who founded and lived there. It has is small gift shop, but the real fun are the volunteers . Full of fun and very helpful. Look for the parking lot behind the building.
Want to know who founded Pleasanton? Want to know how the streets were named for? Want to know who the original families were that founded our city?Take an hour and visit this quaint little museum. The best part of the museum - the docents working the facility. Their knowledge of Pleasanton and the surrounding area is only exceeded by their enthusiasm.I personally think every high school freshman should be required to come here and learn about the city they live in.Thank you staff of your time and information.
Just right in size and depth for a museum visit. Lots of local history and it resides in a historic building. It was the original city hall of Pleasanton, then served as Police Station. It was restored to it's former glory before the Museum moved in.
This is actually a very good small town museum. There are a lot of reasons to visit it.1. Location. It's right in the middle of down town, plenty of parking around, perfectly walkable. If you spend more than a few minutes in downtown, you'll very likely end up right by the museum's door any way, so why not get in?2. Schedule. I've seen a lot of small town museums which seem to be never open. This one is actually almost always open when I get around. I don't remember the exact schedule, but it's convenient.3. Size. The museum is located in two medium size rooms. It has just enough information to get your familiar with the town but not too much to get bored. It's basically used to be a native american area, turned into a typical western town which started as a wild place, grown into an farm town and then capitalized on it's location and took advantage of the newly built freeways/BART and became a nice suburb with a healthy balance of houses and businesses of different kinds. That whole story is well presented in those two rooms. Not an eyeopener, but it's worth a visit.4. Staff. I think it's run by volunteers because the people there really love what they do. It's always pleasure to have a conversation, go for it.5. Price. It's free, can't beat it.Once in a while they do some special events, like on Halloween, but it's totally fine to go on any day - this place truly reflects the spirit of the town, so you'll like it.
This is a small but nice museum in dowtown Pleasanton. The staff there is very nice and greeted me when I went to the museum. They had one room that was a rotating exhibit gallery - currently it was on the East Bay Parks (July 2014); the other room was history of Pleasanton. Highly recommend going to this museum as they have pictures of many of the pioneers in the area. You get to see what Mr. Livermore looked like; you see pictures of people where you drive major streets with the name on it. The exhibits are nice. There is also a short and interesting video tape on Pleasanton.I stayed about 1/2 hour. For those who know downtown Pleasanton or want a nice lunch before or after, Blue Agave Restaurant is next door. I parked for free in a downtown Pleasanton parking facilityThe museum is free (thus four stars as it is small); you can give a donation if you so wish.
You really need to make time to go check this out. It has some great history for all to see, and they run many great events during the year. Check it out often.
The museum has lots of information on the history of the area. Great for schools, field trips and kids. Halloween is a great time to be here.
Small museum - an hour or less to go through - but it has a lot of information about Pleasanton which was a good way to learn about the area. Tells you how the town was named and about a famous resident - I won't ruin it by telling you. Not only was the museum was nice but the staff was so friendly and informative. They also have a "walking tour" map of Pleasanton - you can use it with your cell phone to learn more. On top of that, it's free admission - donations are accepted.
