The folks at this museum have done a great job of preserving and displaying lots of fascinating stuff from the town past. Highly recommend!
We never miss a chance to visit the Plumas County Museum when we're in Quincy. It houses an excellent collection of regional artifacts that are exceedingly well displayed, both inside and out. One of our favorites is the collection of Indian baskets, but there are many other interesting, entertaining, and educational exhibits as well.
Plumas County Museum is a great place to follow the "life and times" of rural living in northern California. Donor funded, this museum has great staff and living presentations. A must see stop if you visit Quincy.
This little museum across from the courthouse in Quincy, California has a lot more than you would think. The main building has local Indian artificats (an excellent collection) and information and exhibits about life in rural Plumas county. The treat comes when you go outside....all sorts of quarry equipment, information on mining, rock samples, etc. There is a rehabed Victorian house on the property and a horse drawn hearse. Definitely worth the $2 admission fee.
Enjoyed the blacksmith shop, the old hearse and the wonderful collection of 19th century furniture and commercial artifacts
This is really well done with lots of variety. It has Chinese artifacts to buggies to indian baskets to mining and logging items galore.
The Museum was wonderful. So much history from the local area. Found my family from the 1920s. Volunteers so helpful and obviously very committed. Please visit or just send donations to keep this special place alive!
First time there and it was really very good, lots of local information and some really good displays, worth a visit, I shall certainly go back.
When coming into Quincy CA for the first time...the first visit should be to the local museum. Located behind the grand and glorious Courthouse this small but informative collection gives a new visitor the perfect foundation for further explorattion.Staff is exceptional. Displays are well-done. The small library offers a weath of literary knowledge to look thru and purchase.
History of the Quincy and surrounding area. Many interesting artifacts. Old pictures, tools, Indian crafts, ect. Well worth visiting.
We enjoyed walking through this museum and learning about Plumas County. Lots of information and artifacts to look at.
For a small museum, tucked away in a very rural area of CA; this is an excellent musuem. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. They have a wide variety of displays from logging, horse buggys to fine art. Definitely worth a 30 - 45 minute visit.
If you are travelling through Quincy, a visit to the Plumas County Museum is a must. Many Native American and mining-era artifacts give you a real appreciation for the history of this region and California in general. A real gem!
Worth a visit. There is an interesting and varied collection and a companion house furnished with period items to tour. Definitely worth a stop.
I didn't get a chance to visit the museum on my last trip to Quincy. But, if you are interested in the history of the area, this the place to see. They change their displays often, so there is always something new to see.
