If you are a car or racing buff, you must go here. The museum is upstairs and be sure you go through the door marked Shop Viewing. You can have a Great time and it is still Free admission. Enjoy!
Our car group recently had the pleasure of touring through the operation. We were all in amazement of each area we toured. Every part of this building is absolutely spotless. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and well versed on the whole operation. Canepa are involved in all aspects of car restoration, as well as sales and the museum. For all car buffs, this is not to be missed.
This 70,000 square foot facility belonging to racer Bruce Canepa has to be on every car lover's bucket list. Performing frame up restorations in the immaculate restoration shop with it's own body and paint facilities or the incredible cars in both the showroom and museum will leave any car aficionado with his or her jaw hanging open. We visited together with hundreds of Porsche owners during the recently held Porsche Parade in Monterey and I'd bet you couldn't find one disappointed person among them. Porsche owners tend to be a bit fanatical about cars and this facility fills the bill to a T!!
I have talked to Bruce on a few occasions and he is always friendly. The cars for sale and in his private collection are amazing.
What a great museum! Beautiful cars all with written history; some motorcycles; a vintage wooden boat; nifty race cars; an overview of the shop--really fun place for those of us who love cars.
Canepa Design/Museum is really four different components of the race/sports car industry: History Museum; Design; Service and Repairs; and Sales. The museum is located in small community of Scotts Valley which is very close to Santa Cruz. I was never into race or fast cars until my first visit to this museum. I really got caught up in the excitement and flowing adrenaline when viewing these show pieces. Many of the cars are one-of-a-kind classics racecars, others are classic, super-sport-cars for public highways, and there are some classic older cars and motorcycles. Some of the classic super-sports cars are what you dream about, but never actually see. This Museum is very professionally displayed, free and a great place to spend a couple of hours with the whole family.
