After visiting Elizabeth Lake, we decided to take the hike to the dome. The dome is quite large. The hike was nice and the views very good.

When asking rangers for recommendation on hikes in the TM section of Yosemite this was never mentioned by any of them Also on many of the websites dedicated to hiking Yosemite this is often poorly rated, we have no idea why as we LOVED it. We did the Elizabeth hike lake (nice) and then immediately did this hike, its uphill and difficult (especially after you have already done several hours of hiking) but the views from the top of the dome are sensational! Be careful on top of the dome it is very steep. If you want to get to the very top of the dome, I recommend walking across the slope and zig zagging your way from the far side. Many others try to go straight up from the left hand side but it is very steep.

Don't miss this place and make sure you get up there. The views are gorgeous. It is a steep hike, but I was able to make it, so you will :-)

This is the first dome have ever hiked and I am so glad I waited. The hike it self was much longer than I thought. But it was a nice , relaxing enjoyable hike. Until you got to the base of the actual dome, then it became steep. I would say very steep, but the kids that were running around me would probably say something different. I even saw a guy and his wife and the dad had a baby carrier strapped to his back! It was steep enough that my wife did not make it to the top. I did make it to the top, , but I was a little tense when I stood up as I am taller than most people and therefore a bit higher.Anyway the view was spectacular, well worth the climb. You are kind of on a flat spot that seemed about as small as a West Texas green, with a 1000 foot cliff on one side surrounded by amazing views. There was some kid up there doing handstands, it was pretty cool and nerve wracking for me. He "accidentally" tripped when he ran by me on the way down.On the way out, I noticed if you park about a mile further east, I think towards the stable, you can come in the back way way and takes about 45-1 hour off a 3 hour trip.i was surprised to see so many other domes in the park.We loved the meadows campground areas more than the tents. So stay in the meadows, bus to the other parts of the park and down south to the big trees! We would absolutely return to this wonderful park, but just stay on the Eastern end.

This looks like an easier hike than it is. It doesn't take much to get up the hill but getting to the very top is tricky -- very steep, so the climbers find it easier than the average hiker. Great views from wherever you stop on the mountain.

The views from Lembert Dome are incredible and well worth the reasonably stiff trek to the peak. The last part of the accent is up onto the dome and walking across rock with no shade so can be rather hot in the summer. The walk is best approached with reasonable footwear (not flip flops). If you are planning to visit Lembert make sure you take in Dog Lake as well, it is stunning and so peaceful and is just as rewarding is not more so than Lembert Dome.

I used to do this hike as a child and it's still one of my favorites. Nice views, and the hike isn't too difficult.

This is a nice hike up the back of the dome. There are beautiful views from the top of Lembert Dome.

Relatively easy hike/climb to the top. Only steepness of ascent, very high altitude, and acrophobia will keep you off the top of this beauty. Great views of tuolumne meadows and the granite peaks surrounding it. If your fears get the best of you keep going until you get some kind of view as it is well worth it. I've seen 5 year olds to 80+ year olds at the top. Well worth it and one of the best family hikes in tuolumne

Easy access to a great view makes the hike up Lembert Dome a must every time we visit Tuolumne meadows. Dog lake and Lembert dome make a Great first day hike to get your boots warmed up.

i felt like a 6 year old running up lembert and other area domes. so beautifful and easier to visit than the yosemite valley. it's a *must do*!

We stopped here on our way over the Tioga pass road to stretch our legs. It is a simple climb up and you are rewarded with excellent views of the meadows and surrounding mountains. A great place to start a visit to Yosemite.

My 6 year old & I got most the way up. Impressive views & not too bad of a climb. If coming over tioga stop & have a snack, hike, and swim in river below.

To hike up this dome, park at the Dog Lake parking lot next to Shuttle Stop #2, and NOT the actual Lembert Dome parking lot. We were expecting this hike to be a lot more difficult than it actually was; from a distance, the dome (which is a couple hundred feet tall) looks very intimidating to climb. In practice, however, it's really shorter than you'd expect. You plod through forest for a little less than an hour, and once you leave the forest, boom-- you're pretty much at the top. The whole round-trip barely added up to 2 hours for us.The views from the top of this dome aren't as jaw-dropping as the views you get from Glacier Point or other stops around the valley, but they're still more than worth the hike. Plus, climbing up the dome is just plain fun.

A recommended hike for morning or sunset; we usually access the trail from the Dog Lake parking lot to avoid crowds.
