A beautiful place to walk, sit or play. Very nice sand and cool waves. Fun to watch the surfers, too.
There were big waves and lots of surfers! I had never seen surfers, so this was a great experience, and a coffee place closeby :)
Wonderful place to sit ( bring something thick and cushie to sit on) and watch all the people, children, animals and the breath-taking water. The beach is often still wet from morning tides so bring something waterproof to sit on and some type of wrap for the wind off the water. You will see many different sights in one short amount of time. We saw some truly beautiful dogs, some very funny dogs, some dogs that thought their owners were nuts for going into that cold water, dogs playing fetch, some just plain running for fun. Large people, small people, people in wet suits that got their surfboards into the water and then brought out oars and paddled around the bay. (VERY INTERESTING once in a life time event.) Couples, families, single people, people with pets, an interesting time for all who go. ENJOY what God has given to all of us.
Nice sand, easy access, a bluff blocks some of the wind. Love this place. Love to have drinks at the restaurant there.
It is a fun walk, and there are surfers, lots of dogs having fun, what's not to like? It was an easy walk from the Marina in El Granada.
We spent a very nice Sunday noon driving down from the Bay area, CA, to Half Moon Bay, CA.. It was a rather cloudy day; but all the the drive was a very nice and scenic one with the energizing smell of the Eucalyptus trees for part. of the lovely drive. Usually, on a sunny Sunday, such a drive is full of traffic, specially as part of the road is a one track way. Anyway, the trip is always worth it, as this is a nice place to spend a day, or more specially if you are a surfer, you will enjoy the famous, large waves of Half Moon Bay.We chose the Miramar Restaurant right on the Bay, facing the Pacific Ocean. We sat outside, on the terrace. It was a very cool day, but they had a transparent fence all around, which keeps the pleasure of the view of being on the beach, and shielded us from the strong wind,.. They also, had heaters and some seats were around fire places. Very cozy and pleasant, and certainly added to the charm of the place. They have a variety of food selection. We were interested in the brunch menu, which had quite an attractive, delicious choice. The service was excellent in spite of the fact that the place was crowded. It is always better to reserve a place on a Sunday, specially if you are a big group.Later, we went for a stroll on the sandy beach, and had a lovely time. A day well spent!
It's a great place to have a glass of wine and some appetizer. We enjoyed the view as the whole restaurant overlooks the beach. They also have a guest pianist which makes your dinning experience really cozy and romantic. Food is average but the wine list is reasonable.I would go back again.
At Miramar Beach there is a beach front restaurant here called Miramar Beach Restaurant. The restaurant has nice views of the beach. As such, we like to go walking before or after at the beach. It is a sandy beach.Traffic in this area can be a bit congested. As such, when not dining at the restaurant, we tend to choose another beach in the Half Moon Bay are to go to. As such, I give it an average rating as a beach to go to.If however doing a dual combination of dining at the restaurant and walking at the beach, I would rate it a 4 star for very good experience.
A local in Half Moon Bay recommended this restaurant as we would probably not have picked it ourselves. It's literally across a narrow beachfront road at the end of a neighborhood of beach condos. The wall facing the ocean are full glass windows that offer prime seating. We started out at the wood-topped bar where we thought we were back in NYC -- nice atmosphere. My husband and I both had perfectly prepared steaks after splitting an excellent salad. Although the restaurant was full, service was attentive and friendly. We were planning to return to try some of the other menu items but ran out of time. I don't say this about many restaurants, but we would definitely book this restaurant again if we got back to HMB.
Liked the outdoor seating. The food was fresh and the service was good. We had children with us and it was relaxed and the outdoor seating was good for children.
Restaurant is across the street from the ocean; Beautiful views and spectacular sunsets. Inside or outside dining; Good food with music on the weekends; A bit pricey for lunch; Great happy hour prices and food and $19.99 3-course dinner specials on Thursday nights.
We loved stopping at this local beach which was incredibly accessible right off Highway 1. Free half hour parking (make sure to get a validation ticket from the machine), clean bathrooms with outdoor shower to get the sand and salt off before you get back in the car, and a wide beach which is perfect for families. The sand is typical of the coast, kind of coarse rather than fine and white but one of the few beaches in the area where we found a small variety of shells and small tumbled rocks. This is THE place where the surfers go to upgrade their skills. Not huge waves but enough to challenge the locals... A fun place to stop for a few hours and a long beach to walk on for wanderers :)
with the exeption of surfer's beach on highway one, Miramar beach is the only beach in half moon bay that you can actually drive by and see from your car if just passing through and need a view, etc. Mirada road runs along the bluff overlooking Miramar beach for less than a half a mile, but boasts some great sunsets and views looking south of the bay, and north to the harbor. Overall the quality of the beach is good, exception being when the tide is high some of the beach can be eliminated as the surf reaches the made made rip rap. The north side of Miramar beach is the only designated off leash Dog beach in half moon bay. Two other attractions are the Miramar beach restaurant which has great views, outdoor seating and a great bar. Live music on the weekends, although a great place for drinks and appetizers around the firepit, the food overall is good, but the view is better. Miramar beach also has a new public restroom facility which is on magellan street near the Miramar restaurant . Parking is also free, but can be scarce on weekends.
It's almost a spiritual experience at this beach. Very soothing and you can see crabs by the rocks and find all kinds of seashells. Sometimes you will see the sealions gathering as well. Great place to stop off at and relax and take some pics.
Sand and surf. can't get better than that, except it was windy the day we were there, even though it was reasonably warm. The beaches along this stretch of the coastline tend to be good with sand in most cases and jagged rocks in a few spots.A great coastal drive with breathtaking views over head lands.
