a neat walk along the water -A hidden gem of a place that we just happened to find by chance.Interesting for its overall perspective.
The info center is near the parking lot and teaches about the wildlife in the area. The boardwalk goes into the lagoon and birds and large fish are easy to see.
From cranes, to seagulls, to hawks flying overhead, this is the best walk in north county. You can bring your dog on the beach. Be careful, your dog may want to chase all the birds and jump in the water to catch the jumping fish!!
Gorgeous views of the golf course, lots of plants and flora. Easy, flat walking surface. Free parking and admission
A friend took me there and I promptly took my wife and dog. Very pretty with many wild flowers blooming, It meanders for a while along the Aviara golf course. Not a hard walk. Many joggers and fellow dog walkers.
There were trails that were easy to walk and enjoy the weather. There was thick shrubs to keep people on the path. If you need to get out and get fresh air this place is a great place.
The trail is set off by thick brush from the lagoon so it was difficult to photograph the birds. But, the walking trails were well kept and very enjoyable. Accessible from the Aviara's golf course.
This is a pleasant birding site. The lagoon hosts a good variety of waterfowl and the surrounding scrub and trees have expected passerines. The trail is wide and gives good clearance for the variety of activities. The small parking lot near the northwest corner of the area is easy to access from I-5 off Poinsettia and Baquitos.
I live on this lovely protected salt water lagoon and it is a constant source of joy and serenity. The lagoon trail that wends around the northern shore goes right past the Aviara golf course and club house. There are two convenient parking areas for the trail heads and the trail always has plenty of walkers and joggers on it. Treat it all with respect, please! It's a gift we residents truly cherish!
Start at either end and this makes a very nice three-mile round trip with no elevation change. Lots of wildlife and pretty vistas. The interpretive signs are very informative. The one major disappointment is towards the eastern end where obviously a lot of eucalyptus trees have been cut down and some scraggly things have been planted to replace them. Even if the trees were non-native, they were beautiful. One needs to remember that humans were never truly native to the western hemisphere.
This is a pretty walk and you can take your leashed doggie. I recommend you start at one of the trailheads that's a bit farther from the freeway and head east. It's prettier and quieter.
you can even take your dog there (on leash if anybody is around off if its empty) nice easy walking trails without much high low terrain changes.
Another great attraction for all ages, easy access from I-5 to Batiquitos Lagoon Gorgeous views, peaceful waters perfect for water skiing and reasonable prices on water skiing rental equipment. The staff is ready to help anyone interested in water skiing. Beginners are welcomed.
One of the best bird watching/wildlife spots in San Diego! The trails alongside the Lagoon are also very nice for walking ... the wildlife is very nice and this is a great place to get away from it all in Carlsbad.
Saw cars along the road parked...jogged in - a beautiful nature hike along the south edge of the lagoon. Very quiet, early morning this is a very scenic trail.
