I like the different art that is displayed. The best part of the whole place is the Tiendita. This is a small store that sells all kinds of crafts from Mexico.
I really enjoyed the visit, it's not that big but it's clean and have good art. The only thing I wish, is Fresno should really get involve more, have the 2 mayor colleges to participate for more art, I don't see why Fresno would spend more money on water parks but not art?? How? And why? I understand we live in an area where most people have no idea of art but come on, the few of us should not pay for the rest! Over all I do recommend this gallery the art is awesome!!
There is always a creative and original display. I particularly like the annual " Dia de los Muertos" in Oct/Nov.
I'm a member at CMAC (Community Media Access Collaborative) and I can hear the music coming from Arte Americas when they have events there. Sounds like a lot of fun!
Honestly, we just Googled "things to do in Fresno" and ended up being one of the things that came up. My wife wanted to take our 9 year old son to visit a museum, and when we searched for a gallery Artes America came up again. Parking was free, although a little tricky to figure out for our first time there (we ended up going in through the "exit only"driveway when parking.) Once we got inside it was a real treat. There were some surprisingly nice exhibits with some really impressive artwork. The lady who greeted us at the door was very friendly, gave us a quick overview of the exhibits on view, and was sure to remind us where the restrooms were, which my wife greatly appreciated I might add. There were quite a few couples and some other families walking around the galleries and we ended up getting an unexpected personalized tour by a gallery employee named Freddy. He even recommended a coffee shop in the nearby Tower District (which is pretty much Fresno's SoHo) as well as a couple of places to choose from to grab a bite to eat. There was also apparently a music event happening later that night, but we didn't get a chance to come back after dinner. A final note is that the admission was free, which is a huge plus when finding fun or interesting things to do with a kid in tow. In the event that he wasn't thrilled, we wouldn't be out a penny. My wife put a ten dollar bill in their donation box on the way out and our son was entertained the whole time. I would bring people here if they were visiting from out of town and wanted to see what Fresno had to offer in terms of art museums.
