They renovated this, however we don't know WHY they paved the walkway with blacktop!!! That's gonna get hot & sticky! Can't beat the view & hiking trails looked great but we didn't have time for hikes.
When I arrived in Death Valley this was closed for construction. We managed to shoot photos from the east by parking way out and climbing the hills and trails. Big dropoff. Sunday I was heading back and the parking lot was open and the construction signs were down. Great handicap accessible path to the best location to shoot. Some trails below but they are trying to preserve the environment. Must see. The colors and view down towards Golden Canyon and the west side is gorgeous.
What a view! If you can stand the 120 degree heat for the 5 minute walk, it's well worth it. It's like nothing I've every seen before. The incredibly panorama includes the vast expanse of the valley floor, stunning rock formations carved by the last ice age and the dominant snow capped mountains in the distance. This is a totally humbling place where the landscape and weather are equally likely to make you gasp for air.
It has wonderful views and many different shapes and colours of the rocks. There is a good car park near by with a toilet. There is little climbe up to the top of the hill. It is accessable for the disabled, even wheelchairs. Well worth stopping here
Road work until mid to late April. Go there when it reopens, you'll be glad you did. Bring water. Let me babble on some more, seems like zabiskie had something to do with film or Borax, let me know.
Apparently some walls were falling down and a hazard so this is closed indefinitely for repairs as of February 14. Check with the visitor center to see if it's open.
Weird geology at your feet, plus a great view in all directions. An especially attractive spot at sunset.
Big disappointment...the one attraction in the park we'd listed as "must see" is presently closed for construction. This was not on the main park website so I recommend you call the Visitor Center if this is your goal. My recollection is the closure will be a couple of months.
We have enjoyed a great sunrise there. I definitely recommend not ommiting this location if you are visiting the national park. We were there in August, so temperatures were higher and the place was not overcrowded.
This is a sight that puzzles many people. How can the rocks have such different colours? The great heat does not make it any easier to guess.
The view is spectacular. Beautiful, amazing, desolate emptiness. Fantastic moon landscape, perfect photography opportunity!
Sunset at Zabriski point.....it is not of this world. It could be on another planet. But keep everything well fixed. I lost my lenscover in the strong warm wind. Lucky I ran downhill and could catch it just before it was gone forever.
Death Valley is one of the best things of Nevada/California. Loved this place. Was hot as hell, but awesome.
youll know what I mean if you are a fan, but at any rate a very nice formation. all of the park we saw was amazing, furnace point, the lowest point in the continental US. the desolation of the park is just amazing. we spent several hours driving through it, we entered the park via Beatty Nevada then drove south through it back to Pahrump Nevada, so we for sure didn't see all of it but what we saw was amazing. I (we- me and my wife) and have been to over 100 of the nearly 400 national parks and sites in the US and territories, and this is probably my favorite national park. of the "big" sites we have been to st johns US VI, grand canyon, sand dunes, padre island, teddy Roosevelt and many more
