I didn't know what to expect and had such a great time. The staff could not have been nicer and more fun. I'd go back next time I am down that way.
The atmosphere is very nice, open-air, and you get that Hollywood feel that a tourist really enjoys. HOWEVER, the waiters are rude and arrogant! I had a waiter that really didn't want to wait on anyone in his section, and actually walked around and asked everyone to close-out their bills early while they were eating because he was leaving. After they paid, he didn't leave at all! You get the feeling that you are being rushed out of there to make room for the next person. I am not sure if I like that. There was a magazine shoot going on at the time, which was interesting.
came here for friend's bachelorette party, we had dinner first at their bar then went in to the dance floor. no cover charges , great and friendly services, beautiful and energetic dancers, strong drinks! we love this place!!!!
If you want a night out dancing with friends, this is a great place to go. However its so unbelievably crowded that on a weekend, it'll take a good 20 min to get a drink and your toes will absolutely get stepped on. If you're drunk,it won't matter, so get a designated driver for the night. The outdoor space is fantastic with an amazing cool breeze at night. Good people watching.
This is quite a large venue with indoor and outdoor spacesThe staff are very friendly and a lot of male waiters were topless - which made you want to eat your nachos in the corner [in the dark]. Great buzz and when we were there it was 'Christmas in September'Great place to check out
Everyone says to go but its like a café. So many people trying to look good with over priced drinks and staff who never seem to smile. I visited a few years ago and enjoyed it much more. I think its got too big and seems to have lost its charm
night culb full of exitments actullay all the night clubs in the area are buzzzing it late hours n its great
Went several times with gay and straight friends and had a blast. You certainly don't go there for the food so eat before hand. It is to drink, dance and enjoy hanging in a fun and safe environment full of generally beautiful people (there is eye candy for everyone!!!)
Beautiful people, loads of fun, no cover. Could you want more? Wednesday night is ladies night. Thursday night is Boys Gone Wild. I went both nights and had a ball! There is so much eye-candy, you won't know what to do with yourself. Also, you'll see LGBT celebs making an appearance. Make sure to get a great spot and enjoy the evening. I preferred to be off the dancefloor but near the bar on top of which people were dancing. Great fun!
Stopped in on a whim on a Sunday afternoon. The place was hoppin. We got a table front and center outside. Drinks were good and served promptly. We also had a couple of apps which were delicious. Our server, Kiki, was awesome! She was totally friendly and helpful. There was also some nice eye-candy dancers and the shot guy... Yum. Will hit it again next time I'm in town.
The abbey is a great bar. I liked it as soon as i walked in, the service was great, huge range of drinks, good music and great atmosphere. I had the calamari for a little snack and it was awesome! Met some really cool people here and would definitely go back.
It not longer is a gay bar! It is unfortunate, now that it's a straight venue in the middle of West Hollywood, it's bringing a lot of the typical angst and aggression along with it. The bar tenders are mostly straight; the management has hired straight bartenders for a while, but now, with an over abundance of them, their lack of pride for the place is showing aggressively and really only cater to the many women who are there nightly. I observed as many of the dancers and wait staff only focused on the women, even neglecting their duties of serving the crowds and maintaining order, and getting drunk and disorderly. When this was pointed out to one of the bartenders, they shrugged it off and my colleagues commented on how the place is not living up to its previous reputation for being the "it" establishment. It was embarrassing, disappointing and quite sad.
Waitress screw up order.Got wrong order.waited 45 min for our Christmas food to arrive.Manager qas extremely unpolite even rude and bias.very cooky. To the point of disrespect. Food was cold. We got harassed enough as patrons. Specially on christmas a real pain in the derriere.the NEW MANAGEMENT TOO YOUNG AND UNSEASONED.
The Abbey has definitely changed over the years. What used to be a simple coffeehouse is now part of the SBE family and has everything you could imagine. I think the best time to visit The Abbey is for an after work cocktail. It's fun and festive but very relaxed. As the evening progresses you'd better find out what night it is. Although The Abbey is known as being primarily gay, it's recently become flooded with heterosexual people so depending on the night or the time of day, you might be surprised with who is around you. Overall it's still a cool place but unfortunately not a place I'll go to at night anymore.
We was staying in West Hollywood and we had to try this place out, even Elton John was at the Abbey 2 days before we got there! The place is massive and theres loads of places to find, to sit and enjoy the evening, all the bar staff are beautiful and are really friendly though the only thing what lets it down is the high drink prices at $12 for two corona but its worth it for the atmosphere and the beautiful surroundings.
