walking in the doors of the world famous Whiskey a go go club was a dream come true. This is one of the most important clubs ever to exist.it almost remains unchanged on the inside and out since it first opened in the mid 60's.Everyone from the Door's,Frank Zappa,Motley Crew,Gun's and rose's and the list goes on got there break here.Standing in the crowd imagining the doors up on that stage all those years ago was truly an amazing experience, one i will never forget.

The drinks are strong and reasonably priced and the rock and roll just flows through your blood the minute you step into the place.

I have been a Doors fan for many years and visiting the Whiskey was one of my life goals. Then in August 2014 that dream would come true. The security on the door should wear a mask as that is how I felt paying the entrance fee. I even had the privilege of being searched as I went in. The security guy was a decent chap though.Once inside, the place was half empty but getting a drink from the bar proved difficult with the rude bar staff.Once my wife and I had drinks we stood quietly at the back watching the band when I was approached by security and rather rudely told to move. It was a walkway apparently which is fair enough but the guy needs to learn some people skills. Mind you, this was LA.I was in amazement picturing the Doors on stage and wishing I was there in the sixties and not in 2014.After the first drink getting a second looked nearly impossible as the staff were chatting amongst themselves so we left. Hugely disappointed but also blessed that I went to a once famous Doors venue.

When Gene Simmon's jaw isn't flapping open and spewing nonsense, the California kids all converge here for a night of rock 'n roll, even when they don't know the bands that are playing.Me and a few friends decided to pay this place a visit the night the Koffin Kats were playing, and geez, this kids sure know how to stir a mosh pit, and that was just for the opening act. This place oozes with rock 'n roll authenticity, you can see it on the walls, and even the merchandise table which was held together with a roll of green electrical tape, presumably because some lunatic threw himself through it from the balcony above. This place isn't your run of mill tourist attraction. Real musicians have graced this stage, mostly at the beginning of their carrers, but even the likes of Marilyn Manson pays this place a visit on Halloween this year, along with visits from up and coming rock stars of the future. If you love your music loud and heavy, this place is for you.

I have been dreaming about coming here since a teenager growing up in Wales and I have to say we had a great time. Admittedly I didn't get to see guns n roses or motley crue as I would have loved but the bands were playing were great and it was fantastic to see all of the memorabilia on the walls. We were upstairs so had a great view of the bands playing, the security were lovely and had a bit of a giggle with us and the bar staff were friendly. I totally loved my experience there and I recommend anyone with an interest in rock music pays it a visit at least once in their life. Fantastic - thank you.

I went to Wisky a go go on Friday, October 3rd. It was a lot if fun, all groups are great, but Bratana is the best one. You guys are totally rocked it!

I recently visited this place was just passing by with some friends and we decided to check it out to see what all the hype was about. This place is nasty the staff was very rude the security were jerks the only thing good about our visit was a band called Dollar N Change which we became instant fans of this band was awesome! but I would not come to this place again there are much better places in Hollywood to go see live music.

great venue, was amazing to be in a place where so many amazing bands have played, some of the security can be very rude

Iconic is not the word, if you know anything about music you know that every band had tred the boards at one time or other at the Whiskey. From the Doors to Guns & Roses all cut their teeth her, have a go & just check it out the vibe even in the day is great

My husband's band played here recently and I have to say you can still feel all the vibes from bands like The Doors, Love, etc. The place is not fancy, but it wouldn't be The Whisky if it was all updated and fancy. This is a music venue, not a date place. If you want romance and quiet, don't come here. It's just a place to hear music. And appreciate the history of this place!!!

I went to the venue because it's where The Doors began and wanted to see the famous place for myself. For starters it was $20 to get in and once inside it is a dark and dingy place with no atmosphere. The bands were OK if you liked that kind of thing (I personally don't like shouted so called rock). You could only tell staff from customers because staff work Whiskey shirts. Unlike every other place I'd been to they charged me for each individual Coke - no refills. I walked out after an hour bored and feeling ripped off.

Saw the Bangles last night and it was wonderful (aside from some of the creepy old guy groupies) but, we came out of there looking like we had just stepped out of someone's fireplace! The place is filthy! Seated upstairs, above the area where they sell merchandise, the railing was filthy and as I looked out over the areas, the monitor above the merchandise area was covered in about 10 years worth of dirt.

My wife thought this would be a good experience to see "Martha Davis & The Motels" on a date night. According to the billing, it was scheduled for a 7 pm "Doors Opening". Little did we know the group we were scheduled to see would be 11 pm. Nothing like waiting around till then. We decided to hang out & watch the "So-called" celebrities walking down the "Red Carpet". It was classical asking the "Paprazzi" who some were. Alot of the responses were met with head scratching & shoulders shrugged. Me & wife recognized 3. But, one we could say one was legit. Without saying too much, a gold medalist's, male, & diver. We did this for a few hours watching the staff parading the "D- listers" though. The funny part was the 'so-called' staff carrying papers with their names printed on. Some, got the special treatment with names written with "Marker" on the other side of paper. Makes you feel important. The media was a mixed, hodge podge of "Who?" & "What?". I can actually say I never heard of any of these media outlets. No TMZ, ABC or, National Enquier, nobody. On top of the smell of bad cigarettes with a slight (strong) odor of urine from standing on the side walk. Various people watching & people in various states of sobriety makes every night a good night on the sunset strip. We took suggestions from a local newscaster who happened to be there covering & inquired about a place to get a drink to kill some time till the show started. We went to "Pearl's Liquor Bar". That will have to wait for another review. In which that one will be positive. We proceeded to go inside. My god, this place is a hole. 50 years has not been good to this once proud establishment. It kind of bothers me when people say that did this & that in the past & never modernized it for the 21rst century. I've been to the "Old Yankee Stadium", "Grand Central Station", & "Griffith Observatory" to name a few. I understand tradition. But, please modernize...The sound system was not the greatest. Sound checks were done literally 5 minutes before the show started. The staff was too busy being proud to be called off their "perch". I was affraid to see what was on the floor if, I would've tripped. The area is well aged & real musty smell. Seriously make this place feel "Historical" & don't rely on the past. I was not even going to attempt to use the restroom. Since it was probably on the "Sunset Strip".

Thi place looked and smelt as if it was and still is a major rock n roll place, alongside creating a unique place for live music as all the bands were so pumped at just playing there! I would say you have to see this place on any night out you plan on the strip
